Has anyone ever heard of handing out an envelope and asking each person to address it to themselves, at a baby shower? I have heard that the mother-to-be can pick one envelope and that person gets a small gift, but then the M-2-B already has the thank you cards already addressed.
I did this at my shower and it worked out wonderfully! It makes sending out thank you cards so easy!
We did draws at various times throughout the afternoon with these envelopes in addition to some other shower games.

On the envelope, do I write Barbara and Adam Goldberg, Adam and Barbara Goldberg, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Goldberg...?
Actually, the wife's first name IS Barbara, but she never EVER goes by Barbara. It's always Barb.
It's a couple that is best friends with my parents. They were unable to attend our wedding but sent us a very generous gift. They signed the card Barb and Adam.
Is it proper to just address it to Barb and Adam Goldberg?

It depends on the mood of the letter, if you want to distance yourself from them a bit then use barbara, but otherwise use the name they used to send to you.

Hi! I know when you prepare your wedding invitations, ettiquette says you should handwrite the addresses on the envelopes. How about when you're sending out the thank you cards afterward? Is it okay to use nice clear labels and do them on the computer? Or should they still be done by hand? And yes, the text inside the card will all be done by hand!! :)
It's not HOW the envelope is addressed that counts, it's that fact that it IS addressed and contains a hand written card AND is mailed.

Well, I know it's meant to be done as a 'help' to the shower recipient, but it really isn't necessarily Good or Bad...just kinda weird.

I am mailing a sympathy card to my aunt in England because my uncle passed away a week ago. However, I also want to send her a thank you card for a birthday gift she gave to me. Would it be appropriate to put both cards in the same envelope or could this be considered tasteless/insensitive?
Since you are taking the time to consider her feelings with this especially in such a difficult time, you have already shown Yahoo Answers that you really care for and love this relative. If it was me, I would take the time to mail the cards separately, thereby letting HER know you really are sorry for her loss, but, at the same time, you really are appreciative of the gift she gave you. Families become stronger as a whole when other members of the family openly express their love and loyalty, even if it's in such a simple manner of sending two different pieces of mail.

I stamped it on a white envelope using a big and juicy ink pad (primary colours). Still lots of room for the address and return address, though I'm not sure how much Canada Post likes this sort of thing. But they have never, not once, asked my advice on anything, so I don't think I need to ask them either. None of the envelopes have been returned to me yet. Not like the year that I got about 30 back because I forgot to put stamps on them. They must love me there.... I did go on a tour once of the sorting facility (very interesting!) and they did mention that their machines don't like red on envelopes, so never use red ink or things will have to be hand sorted. It was very tempting to think...
