PLEASE READ ALL!!
I am beginning to do quite well with commissions for my artwork and requests for hand made cards, with interest from a couple of shops, not just friends. I want to set up my own little company doing this and am not sure how do go about making sure the name I use is not being used elsewhere in a similar field and, more importantly, how I go about copyrighting my card designs (and checking my idea hasn't already been done)? Any and all sensible advice very very welcome. Thanks!

I did exactly the same (design and sell greeting cards). Companies house will register your company and check the name is not already on their data base. Your artwork could be photographed and as suggested by others - posted to you self (don't open it, the post mark is the key evidence). Good luck.

I want to start selling my designs. What the best software on a PC for this sort of thing? And can I scan in artwork or will the quality be lost? I have the artwork on paper but I'm a novice at this so no idea how to proceed... Thanks

Illustrator and photoshop are definitely the best. If you cant use them, learn how to, they are awesome and the design industry standard. You can stilll draw freehand and then scan into illustrator and convert the image to vector, its great! Illustrator or photoshop will keep maintain the quality and get it into a digital format that you can send to others - ie pdf or eps

Let me make this clear...I'm not asking for anyone to buy anything. I simply want to get a little feedback about my designs! So if you could take a couple of minutes to check them out and then come back here and leave me some feedback that would be great.

I have been designing these cards for about three weeks now, in addition to working my full-time job. I honestly just want to know if my stuff is any good or if I am wasting my time and should move on. Just tell me, Do you like my designs?
