My fiance and I are to be married this April. For Christmas, his mother sent us a beautiful quilt she made and his and her aprons that she embroidered. This was such a thoughtful gift and I want to show my appreciation with a thank you card but I have no idea what to write.
The standard format for a thank you note is as follows:
Thank you for the [positive adjective] [item(s) received].
Then a few lines about their attractiveness/usefulness and some specific details about how you will use them.
Then a final word of thanks.
You can add more depending on how well you know the giver and if there are any other pertinent details. So for your note and without knowing how well you know your MIL and other details, maybe something like this:
Thank you so much for lovely handmade quilt and aprons. The quilt is absolutely beautiful and will be just perfect in our home. The his and hers aprons are adorable. They will no doubt inspire us to develop our culinary skills!
Again, thank you for such thoughtful gifts.

I want to thank all the people who made time to come to my bridal shower. I want to get gifts for the sisters-in-law(and they are also my bridesmaids) who planned everything but is it ok to just send thank you cards for the others who came to the shower?
Yes, that's perfectly acceptable. It's nice to see someone on here who is polite, and wants to do the gracious thing! If you got everyone a gift what would be the point of a shower though? You could have all saved yourselves some money and just not had a shower. lol.
