Save The Date Invitation

How to word a destination wedding save the dates & invitation?

I'm trying to figure out how to word my destination wedding save the dates and invitations. Basically what we are doing is inviting everyone to travel with us to Bermuda to watch us get married, even though we know for a fact that 90% of our guests will not come. We are then having a cocktail reception at home the week after we get back. We need to include all of this info on the invitation but I dont want it to be to overwhelming for the guests. Any suggestions?

'x and x would like to invite you to their destination wedding in Bermuda on (date.)
A cocktail reception is to follow at home on (date.)'

I would include an insert with the invitations in the form of a letter/note that kind of says: 'We understand that Bermuda is a long way to travel, but you are more than welcome to join us on our special day. If you cannot make it please join us at our home reception. Please inform us which event/s you are able to attend.'
You could include more details about your Bermuda wedding here too (how long you will be there for, who else is def going, rough idea of where to get flights or hot ess, good agents to book through.)

How to make Invitations/Save the Dates on a Budget!

Here is how I choose to make my save-the-dates for my wedding. I had everything already from other projects so it didn't cost me a penny but ...

When should you send save the date reminders? ?

My Best Friend is getting married and the weeding is going to be on the opposite side of the country... This means everyone invited will have to arrange travel accomadations. How far out in advance should a save the date invitation be sent?

90 percent of our guests will have to travel at least out of state, and we sent ours out 11 months ahead of time. I did that because personally, I'm a planner, and like to plan stuff like that FAR in advance, and I wanted to extend that courtesy to our guests.

Many of our guests have made hotel arrangements already, and we just sent them out a few weeks ago, so I'm assuming they appreciated the head's up as well.

When heavy travel is required, as much notice as possible is always best. Especially when work schedules may need to be arraged. I'd say anywhere between 8-12 months ahead of time is good.

Save the Date?Formal Invitation? Wedding Invite? please help?

Are save the date cards, formal invitation cards, and wedding invitations all the same?? If there is a difference could you please let me know, I'm trying to design my wedding invitations and I don't know which is which or if they are all the same. If they aren't the same, are all necessary??P Please help, thanks.

Save the Dates is usually a non-formal invitation that you send to your guests about 6 months before the wedding. It is just to let them know to "save the date" You will usually state the date and at the bottom you can put "Invitation to follow"...Some Brides don't send these out.

Formal Invitation is the invitation you will send out about 1-2 Months before the wedding. In the Formal Invitation you will usually have the Invitation, Response Card, and an In-Formal card (this is used to give directions to your reception, or important wedding notes for your guests)

I hope this helps you!

Does the Save The Date have to match the Invitation?

My fiance and I are getting married in October. I'm preparing to send out our Save The Dates, but does the wedding invitation have to be the same layout, stationery, etc? I'm doing them up myself on the computer and would like a different style invitation. Would that look weird?

Also, how long before the event do you send out wedding invitations, and how long do you allow people to RSVP?

Thanks.

The save-the-dates and the wedding invitations definitely DO NOT have to match. Most people go cheaper (homemade) with the save-the-dates.

Wedding invitations: mail them 8 weeks prior to the wedding date. The RSVP deadline date should be about 2 weeks (maybe 3) prior to the wedding. Most venues do not need a final head count until 1-2 weeks before the wedding. If you put the RSVP deadline too soon (say 4-6 weeks prior to the wedding), you will get lots that are not returned because people will say "I don't know my schedule yet." So, again, only allow 2-3 weeks before the wedding and use that as the RSVP deadline date.

What are some good save the date and invitations for a masquerade party?

I'm sending out "save the date" cards a month before my sweet 16. I do not want the guests to know the theme yet. Then they will find out the theme with the invitations. The invitations need to look waaay better than the save the date cards. ANY IDEAS?

I run a website where I make custom cards and invitations -

I made a Mardi Gras themed 30th birthday invitation for my husband. If you are interested, I can dig up a sample of the invitation.
