I had my response cards printed this weekend and at the bottom I added " RSVP:" and an email address I set up for RSVP's to the wedding. Do you think this is a good idea since postage is going up before the response deadline?
I know most people we're inviting use email, only a select few family members may not use email, and could send the response card the old fashioned way.
I think its a great idea. I would rather respond using email; it's easier and faster. I don't even own stamps anymore!!
I am giving the wedding for my daughter as a single parent and my name is on the invitation as the person who is inviting everyone. I am also totally paying for the wedding- She wants to put her name and address on the response card so that the responses will go to her directly as she has off during the summer as a teacher and thinks it would be easier that way to do the place cards.. I am not sure as I think it should be going to my home as I am giving the wedding? Any ideas about this? Thanks.
Technically the RSVPs go to the host. That would be you.
Now I am going to speak emotionally. My parents hosted my wedding so the RSVPs were addressed to them. So when I would get RSVPs to track who is or isn't coming my parents would get to open them first. It was always really disappointing because I wanted to be able to open them and tell everyone "oh look so-n-so is coming!" Now I know technically they were addressed to my parents and it was their mail so they had every right to open them, but I really wished I would have gotten to. I'm sure if I had asked they would have let me have that, but I didn't feel right asking seeing as they're doing so much for us and our wedding. Let your daughter do it, it's her wedding and I'm sure it would be appreciated!

Also on the response card envelope do you write the name of the person your inviting with their address or do they do that themselves? Otherwise how do you know which guest the response card is from when you get it back in the mail? Thanks, I am new to this whole wedding stuff.
Yes, you should put your name and address (as well as a stamp) on the response card envelope.
People will write in their info when they return the card to you, but a good trick (in case people forget) is to number the back of your response cards (really small numbers, in pencil). The same number goes next to their name on your guest list, and when you receive a response from them you just check it off. I didn't receive any blank rsvp's but it was a good back up plan.

I know I'm crazy, but I'm inviting children to my wedding reception in October. If all the children come whose families are invited, there will be about 22 children between the ages of 1 and 17. I am only having one meal choice for the adults, however my venue does offer a children's meal option which is 1/2 the price of the adult meal and obviously would be a great savings in money. How do I nicely, but firmly, state on the response card that it is suggested that children under 12 receive a kid's meal.
I would put it down as meal choices like you normally would do, but add "under 12" next to it.
Example:
____ filet mignon
____ children's meal (12 and under)
You could even name the kids meal something better than just "kids meal" like, if its a burger have it say "hamburger (12 and under)"
EDIT: No offense to the other answerer but I would NOT suggest omitting response cards!! First, its not "proper" and second, its going to be a huge hassle!
I got married recently, and it was a pain in the butt tracking down the few that didn't RSVP in time. I can't imagine doing that by phone. You'd be endlessly playing phone tag!! If they want to know how formal the event is and what to wear, they will ask you or a family member who will know.
What it saves you in money will be counteracted by the enormous amount of time it will take you. Think about it, someone calls who you haven't spoken to in a while and before you know it you're on the phone for an hour. Think of how many long phone calls you'll deal with!
There is a reason for response cards -- to save your sanity!
For my reception I need to have a head-count of children under the age of 5, between ages 6-10 and those over 10. How on earth do I word that on a response card? Thanks!!
insted of jsut one line ______ # of guests
do
___# adults _____ # of children under the age of 5
____ # of children between 6 and 10 years of age
_____ # of children older than 10
Or
_____ # of Guests
Please list the ages of any children that may be a part of your party___________________________________________________________________________________________

Wedding RSVP questions: time frame, etiquette…? — Wedding Questions
Well, this is where you need the date the caterer has given you that he/she needs the final guest count by. What you do is take that date, the date you need to know FOR SURE who is and is not coming, and start working backwards. If you’re having a smaller wedding, say under 100 guests or so, you can ask for them back about a week or 2 before you need that final number given to the caterer. But, if you’ve invited several hundred guests, then you’re going to have to give yourself time to call or contact those who don’t send back the response card (yes, many won’t even send them back). In that case, give yourself at least 2 weeks, sometimes even 3 or 4 weeks.
