Iam having a birthday/going away party for my fiance' at my house.. He is going to millitary training for the National Guard... We are having Jamabalaya and swimming.. Can someone help me come up with an invitation???

We are having a birthday/going away party for (his name) at (time) on (day). We would love to see you there!! Bring your appetite and swimsuit and lets have some fun!!!

So my friend is moving and my other friend is throwing her a going away party. I found out about the party a few days ago from another friend, and yesterday the person throwing the party asked if she gave me an invitation yet and so I said no. Then she told me she'd give it to me today, and she didn't give me an invitation or mention. I'm talking to her online now and was just curious whether people think I should ask her or give her a few more days to try to remember.

Ask her about it! And even if she doesnt give you one then just show up if she said she was going to give you one anyways. But dont be scared to ask. I mean if you really want to go to the party.

I'm working on sending out an invitation to a small farewell gathering to the couple that is leaving. I did fine with sending invitations to guests, but I'm stumped when it comes to sending it to the couple that the party is intended for. I'm horrible at this sort of thing, what do i say in 3 lines or less, excluding date/time and gifts/food? This is for an elderly couple moving out of state to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

I would go along the lines of, I am/we're throwing a farewell party for you and your spouse, etc... The party is starting at.... If its a surprise party, you will need to make up a task for them....preferably something they normally do with you, so as nothing will be expected. Usually if its not a surprise party the people the party is for should be aware, and possibly part of the planning if they want to be.

Edit: Another option you have is to give thema normal invite and state on it they are the guests of honor.

Today I received an invitation for my cousin's college graduation party scheduled for this Friday. This cousin lives all the way across the country from me. I haven't seen or heard from her in at least 2 years. There is no way I can take off work or obtain affordable plane tickets with so little notice. Why would my cousin send an invitation for a party 2000 miles away in less than 3 days? Does it sound like she is just fishing for gifts?

Lots of times invitations are sent to everyone in a particular "category" to avoid hurt feelings - e.g., if I invite one aunt to a party, I should probably invite my other aunt too. If you're not close to her it's probably just a case of her wanting to make sure you didn't feel left out - and I'm sure she's not actually expecting you to come. A phone call with an "I'm sorry I won't be there, I hope you have a great time!" is probably fine.
