More than two years ago, an individual said to me, "you and [friend's name] should come to [city] for lunch." It never happened. I guess it wasn't a high priority. I wonder if the lunch invitation is still open. The person was an acquaintance anyway. It wasn't a formal invitation just part of small talk.
Yes, why not, as you said it was only a 'we must do this one day' invite, so contact them and say you have some free time "next week' and would love to catch up. If this time does not suit them, or they have lost interest and will just say it is not suitable.

Ok so this guy is my friend's cousin, and she wanted me to meet him. Yesterday, he sent me a text message and asked me out for lunch sometime if I'm not busy, and I said yes. He said I'll just let him know when my schedule permits. Now what should be the best response for this? Or how do I tell him without being too interested or uninterested to go out with him. We are having a reception only (we married out of state in jan.) and wondering if we have to say on the invitation that lunch is served. reception is 12-4pm and figured ppl will know that we're providing food dont ya think?

It all started about two years ago. Some of us from the Parish went to the Diocesan Convention, and we were challenged by what we heard about new ways of engaging with our local communities. Our Parish Priest Fr Graeme raised the whole issue at our Annual General Meeting. We decided that we wanted to do something. Bishop Brian came to a Parish Focus Day and encouraged us to undertake some research on the demographics of the area.
We looked carefully at the statistics about the people who live in our Parish. We discovered that there were about 6,000 people living in the Cardiff area who lived on their own, including some of our own members. It was a real eye opener for us. We had always known it but had not really thought about how we could respond to it. As we discussed this and as we thought about it further we realised that this was something which we could try to be involved in.
