I am having a Halloween party for my kids & their firends. They are young 5 & 8. Any ideas on invitation wording, crafts, games, snack etc... Is after school better or a weekend day. Thanks

Invitation Wording: A card you make on your own on Greetings Workshop, with a Jack-o-lantern on the front saying "You're Invited to a Spoooky Celebration!". Then, on the inside, in the font Chiller, write the date, time, etc. on one inside page and put a witch or a black cat on the other inside page. Put another Halloween-y picture on the back.

Crafts: If it's a smaller party, you can have pumpkin-carving, but if it's a bigger party, you obviously can't, so buy the really small baby pumpkins and have them each paint one. Also, buy Halloween cookie cutters and bake a bunch of sugar cookies with them, then have the kids each decorate a cookie or two.

Games: You can have a candy hunt, as long as you have a lot of candy and hide them in easy-to-find places. Make sure you have extra candy in case one kid starts crying because his friend got one more piece than him :). You can also have charades, dancing, and the other classics, but a costume contest isn't a good idea for their ages because the kids are little and will cry if they don't win.

Snacks: You need to have lots of orange, green and black things, but be sure to have candy corn! That is a MUST. And in Halloween-themed bowls.

For Music: There's a CD called Drew's Party Halloween Favorites or something, but if you can't find that one, there are many other Halloween CDs at Party City and Halloween USA and all that.

Tell them on the invitation to dress up, and make SURE you and your kids dress up too!

I want to have an "adult" Halloween party. All of my friend have kids so I want it known that kids aren't allowed(without saying it like that) What is a tactful way of saying it. The last time I had one, the invitation said BYOB(which I though would discourage people from bringing kids but one couple still brought their 2)

Just say "ADULT HALLOWEEN PARTY" on the invitation. That should be sufficient.

I'm having a Halloween party and some of my adult friends do have kids that will be invitied as well but how do I invite some newer acquaintances but without their kids? I only want a handful of kids here and some of the new acquaintances kids are 6 and under and I don't want to have to worry about little ones running all over the place. What should I put on the invitations regarding younger children or should I just send the invitations to the adults hoping they dont bring the kids?
It's not rude. The kids I will invite are the children of my very good friends and are friends with my kids who will be here. They are also older and can entertain themselves.
I don't have the facilities available for 5 year olds running around and I want parents to be able to have a great time without worrying about little ones. As stated, the kids that are invited are not little children.
After thinking about it, there are 2 children (ages 9 and 11) that would be invited and these kids are great friends with my children that will be here (ages 8 and 12). Perhaps I should allow each of my kids one guest (the 9 and 11 year old) and draw the line there. That should cover my bases right?

I would put somewhere in the invitation to the adults

"this party may not be appropriate for children 6 years and younger."

Or if you don't think that is strong enough say "is not" instead of "May not be"

I wouldn't be offended if I received this in an invitation...(especially for a Halloween Party) I like to know when children are expected to come and when I should leave them with a sitter. Good luck and have a great Party!

Have kids and mom's over on Thursday before Halloween...for a Pumpkin Carving Party. Need an awesome invitation!!
