First Birthday Party

I am throwing a lowkey party tomarrow for my daughter's first birthday and I need some ideas for easy games or activities to keep my friends and family entertained. There will only be about 10 people there and only a couple kids 3 and under.

Go for it! We did the exact same thing 6 months ago for our daughter's one year old birthday, for a number of reasons. We had mostly adults and preferred to put the money we DID have into something that would mean more to her (her first bank account).

So, we had a backyard party, with balloons and streamers, plastic tablecloths, and pin the tail on the donkey! We also played musical chairs and karaoke. Instead of favor bags, I bought actual gifts for the few children that were there, and gave it to them as their game prize (we made sure each child won a game). The adults had fun helping the children "win", but they also joined in playing musical chairs, 3-legged relays, and playing cards. We had a potluck and individual cupcakes and ice cream cups to simplify things. We bought her a small, personal cake so that she could blow out the candle (which she was too irritated to do). She opened gifts then everyone left.

It came down to the family getting together and having a good time with each other.

I am having my little boys first birthday party this weekend and most of the kids there will be between 5 and 8 years old . I am looking for some ideas for making some little decorative finger foods that would appeal to that age group.I have found snail sandwhiches which are sandw that look like snails but an you think of any other cute ideas . Also so so good outdoor games to play me and my older kids are making pinata's .

Go to your local supermarket and check the frozen food section. They have frozen foods such as:

Chicken Nuggets cut into fun shapes
Pigs in a blacket
Mini Bagel Pizza's
Mozzerella Sticks
Mini Hamburgers

Then stop over at the bakery for Mini Cupcakes iced in different colors

Games for the young ones:
Set up a few games like you would see at a carnival.

1. Have a ring toss.
2. Ball Toss, they have to get a ball in a cup or small pail
3. Ball Kick, see who kicks the farthest.

Give prizes to the winners, but have smaller prizes for all the kids just for participating.

Everything needed for these games can be found in your local dollar store.

I'm going to do it Disney Princess, and it's tradition in our family to do it at my parent's house for the first birthday. I know she won't remember it, but I made nice scrapbooks and I know that she'll want to see her first birthday party nice. What should I do to make the house ready for a party? What gifts bags should I give?

If it is just going to be family, then have some current professional pictures done of your daughter, and give one to each family member in a nice frame for them to display at home. Also, you could have your child draw a picture, yes I know it wont be much, but it would be something that your daughter did personally and it will also be a nice activity for you and your daughter to do together.

I could use some suggestions with a menu for my daughter's first birthday party on October 6th. We are inviting 22 adults and 17 kids. The party will be at our home (we're praying for a good weather day, otherwise we'll be setting up tables in our unfinished basement!). I prefer to cook rather than cater, but catering isn't completely out (except that I'm NOT doing fried chicken, beef sandwiches, and mostaccoli, the typical middle-class "party fare" here in the Chicago suburbs). I plan on sticking with a fall theme, with pumpkins for the kids to decorate, and maybe some fall decorations in addition to some "first birthday" ones.

Any suggestions for a menu? Thanks!

you should definitely keep it simple though. with that many kids, the harder you try the more you will discover they really dont care about the food with the exception of sugar laced goodies.
also you should make a pumpkin shaped pinata ;)
i made small goodie bags with homemade cd's for all the kids at my daughter's 5th b'day last year.
you could make some with pics for the grownups of the baby's first year......
i'd still wanna stick with hot dogs & burgers , throw maybe some steaks etc on the grill , make some salad
otherwise sounds like u might be having thanksgiving

My son’s first birthday party is in September and I am in need of suggestions for a cute theme for his birthday party. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.
He enjoys anything with bright colors, especially his caterpillar teethers and toys. He also loves animals of all kinds. He really doesn’t have a favorite show yet. Sorry for not putting more detail.

invite somefriends with kids over

give out animal filled goodies bags

anything you can think of !!
