First Birthday Invite

My daughter is 11 months old and we are planning her birthday party we a a little bit behind but we hit a problem with how many people we should invite because with her dads side there are a lot of cousins that are teens and want to bring their boyfriends so that doubles the list then my side wants to be invited cuz they want to share in the day to but when you get all the people together it is like 60 people. I dont know what to do.

If having her whole family there is important to you, then have a big party (these early party's are about your preferences, not the childs, which will come eventually). If that's the case, then I would make it clear to all this is a family only event (no dates) that you'd love for them to come to, but that you'll understand if they aren't able to come. I would of course allow the older people who are in long term relationships (not married) to bring their SO, but the cousins should be able to entertain themselves w/o their bf/gf's around (especially if there's lots of them). Set your number based on this, but be understanding if the teens don't want to attend due to the restrictions. Family parties to me for the first are the best idea, but sixty people is a lot to deal with. good luck.

My daughter's having a Spongebob birthday party for her 6th birthday in a couple weeks. She met Spongebob at the Nick hotel a couple months ago, so I took the photo of her with him and cropped out all the background so it's just the two of them on the front of the invite. For the top I wrote, "Ever since Avery met the big sponge, a Spongebob party was due!" Although I don't like that line and don't know what to put there instead. Would appreciate any suggestions!

What is the etiquette? Do we invite only family and friends with children or do we invite basically, everyone, even friends without kids. Note, it will also be friends plus spouse as well because some are married. With that said, what would you do?

For my son's 1st birthday, we had his grandparents, my sister and her kids and that was all. Too many people is overwhelming and no fun for the child.

Invite people your daughter knows and loves, but don't have like 50 people. Remember too that friends without kids may not enjoy the party as much as you think.

This is for my my daughters first birthday and the invites are going to family and very close friends. I didn't make a a list for my sons first b-day and everyone was calling us asking what he needed. Is it acceptable to just save everyone time to add her clothes a shoe size and that she would like age appropriate toys?
Im not assuming everyone has to bring a gift but in our family structure everyone does to a birthday party for a small child! I was just asking if it was ok and do not need rude answers! I was just wondering!

I think you should send around a general e-mail with her sizes and state that it's because you've been asked. Please don't put it on the invitation. Even though it's family and friends, that's just not great etiquette. The focus on any child's birthday party should be attendance of the guests, not the gifts. I realize you have a good reason but as I said...send it in an informal e-mail if you start getting phone calls.

Otherwise, gifts are just that, gifts; not something necessarily expected, and appreciated whether they're perfect or not.

My daughter is only 8 months old but I'm already starting to think about this.

If I invite just one side of the family, that will be 17 people including us & the baby. The other side is very big and if I invite them, it could be more than 30, which seems like way too many.

How many people did you invite and how did it go?

I invited everyone to my son's birthday. He didn't know the difference... he was one. I probably tried to do too much and was a little stressed but... the best part is when we look back at the video of his first birthday. All of his great grandparents are sitting there and it makes it very special. He is now seven and loves to see everyone that was there. We have also since lost all of our grandparents so it makes it a very special memory! I would say to invite everyone because you never know when you will not have those people there.
