Engagement Invitation

My best friend is hosting an engagement party for me & my fiance. She is providing light hors d'oeuvres, but she does not have the money to pay for alcohol. Is it appropriate to put "cash bar" on the engagement invitations or should she just let guests find that out once they get to the restaurant?

It is absolutely appropriate, and even appreciated, to announce on the invitation that guests will need to purchase their own beverages. You can include this information at the bottom of the invitation, separated from the rest of the information so that it is a little bit of an afterthought (not the main event)!

I have googled but it only brings up websites with plain and ugly invitation ideas. I'm after something like what you'd find in a magazine. I would go to the newsagent but it's closed and i dont want to wait for tomorrow.

I am here in the US and my fiancee is in my birth country which is the Philippines. He would like to throw an engagement announcement at my parents house. My presence would be just through telephone only and web cam. What is the proper way of engagement wordings in an invitation. I would like to invite some of my relatives on that day! Should I indicate in the invitation that I am here in the US. What is the proper way to do it. THanks and hop someone could help me thanks

im getting engaged and on the invitations i want to put a short quote before the actual invite... i am looking for something inspirational, meaning full, sweet and somewhat conservative or modest, my fiance and i are from 2 different background s and it was very hard for our families to accept our relationship so i would like a quote that kind of says...here we are, we have made it ! something that shows strength, beauty.. any opinions or quotes, give me some examples, i would really appreciate it!

Enriching your relationship with matrimony is so much more than a slogan or phrase. The Unity is not only between you and the groom but, it needs the blessings of the families as well.
My observation is that when families are delighted to be related as in laws, the marriage has a much greater chance of success.
I think "Requesting" their presence as you celebrate the uniting of your families for what is hoped to be a " Life long " commitment for all shows the beauty of the love which is still expected to grow even more as well the strength which has brought you to rationally make this decision and reflects the wisdom you feel you have that this is the right step to make your future better...
