Does anyone have any suggestions for smart or sophisticated drinks to bring to the party? I know there will be a lot of hip/sophisticated people there and I don't want to look like a redneck or something.
Try some of the flavored martini mixers. I had some and it was fabulous. Make sure to read the bottle to make sure it calls for a common liquor to mix it with. And they come in such cool looking bottles, they are sure to be a hit!

We have pre printed invitations for our cocktail party. I didn't realize they said RSVP in them when I bought them. We aren't requiring rsvp's, so what is a funny way we can incorporate the letters "RSVP"? Is there something else we can say they stand for? Really Should Venture to our Party?

I am having a formal cocktail party in December.I will be having approx. 70-80 people both business related as well as personal friends.Last party I had, a business related fellow and his wife brought their 2 month old baby.The baby cried almost the whole party and the mother kept bottle feeding in the middle of the party.It shocked me that they brought the baby to a party invitation that clearly stated "cocktails".Her mother lives nearby,she comes from a large family with many brothers and sisters who could have baby sat,or they could have simply not come.I really do not want a repeat of last the party.I do not want to have to state "adults only" on the invitation.Any thoughts on how to avoid a repeat?
What's wrong with putting "Adults only" on the invitations?
Even though it's a cocktail party some people (surprisingly) are just clueless and need someone (you) to give them a clue.
If you put "Adults only" on the invites they can't say to you, "Well, we didn't know we weren't allowed to bring our kid/kids, the invites didn't say no children allowed".
I am having about 30 adults for a Christmas Cocktail Party. I am not planning on serving dinner just cocktails, hourderves and dessert. Should I put that on the invitation and how. Also, Is 7:30 a good time or 8:00?
If you're calling it a "Christmas Cocktail Party" people should understand that you're not serving dinner. If you want to be doubly-sure that people aren't bringing their appetites, continue to call it a Christmas Cocktail Party, but also include phrases like "Nibbles and Drinks" or "Hors D'oeuvres & Cocktails" along with the time "7:30 to 11:00". People should not make the mistake expecting dinner. Have fun!
You could go with either time. Consider how long you'll let the party run and your schedule. You don't want to have to kill yourself preparing for a 7:30 party if 8:00 would be better for you. Be sure to leave time to take some time for yourself before the party.
It means you have to dress not casually, but a bit more elegant... but not very formal either.
