Invitation to Childrens Birthday party, family nightmare.... what would you do in this situation. LONG!?

Ok here it goes. I always am a bit dramatic.
My daughters were born 10 days apart one is turning 3 the other 1. Recently I attended my oldest sisters 40th birthday dinner where 2 of my aunts were at. We were placed together at a table and while I was talking to a cousin, about inviting her to my children's birthdays, they over heard. Some comments were made as to why they were not invited and why we ignore them all the time. I just flippantly told them their invitations were in the mail. However I do not want them coming. There are reasons why read on: They are my only surviving aunts on my moms side. There is a long story with these two women. My mom was the youngest of 8, and even though her sisters were older, as there husbands passed away my mom became there sole caretakers in a way. After my mom passed away, some how my oldest sister took on that role. Now I have very little to do with these aunts, and have butted heads in the past with them concerning, my lifestyle choices, care of my mother during her cancer fight, and religion. I do respect them and love them as I should for family, but I dont really want much to do with them outside of it. They are moochers in my opinion and are not part of my immediate family. However some how everyone else in my extended family loves them and feels very protective of them. We are old school, so it would look bad on me if I snubbed them. They do not drive, they live over an hour and a half away and unfortunately I can not make any arrangements for anyone to bring them with. I JUST KNOW if I invite them they will come for spite. They will not bring gifts, they will eat, and they will complain and make nasty comments. I also know for a fact that if they do accept they will need a ride. In the past I was saddled with picking both up and dropping both off. I do not wanted this added pressure. My husband hates them and refuses to do it also. I do not blame him. They are prejudice towards his race, and that we had our first daughter out of wedlock. He wont bear to sit in a car with them for any length of time. My family is all pushing me to invite them but so far no one can bring them or give me a valid answer as to why I should. My oldest sister is coming, but has to work late and will leaving from her work site which is far way from where they live. SOOOOOO what do I do. Do I suffer the consequences of not inviting them and have a more fun party, or bear with there presence and deal with the ride issue??? I am torn.
i put this in this section because I never get good answers in family, or etiquette.
good point about the "in the mail" comment. Actually I didnt say anything it was my cousin who mentioned it out loud in front of them, and almost kind of think it was a set up since this cousin is one of the aunts daughters... yeah oh well

You've got to invite them because you already said you did. But, it's up to them to find the transportation. You're busy getting ready for the party and cleaning up after the party to arrange for transportation. You're not a taxi service. If they want to attend that badly, then it is up to them to find a ride. Either they take a cab or they find a ride with someone else. If they ask to be picked up, just explain that you can't come pick them up because you and your husband will be busy cleaning, picking up the cake, getting the food ready, preparing the games, getting the kids dressed and ready, and the house decorated and that you cannot pick them up. Let them know that you'd love for them to come and that their presence is always welcome, but that you understand if it's too difficult for them to find a way to come.

How much do you spend on your childrens parties?

am thinking about starting my own party planning buisness for childrens partys that include entertainment, decorations, set up, clean up, invitations, thank you notes and food. I was just curious to see how much parents usally spend on their childrens birthdays not including the birthday present.

Oh and also if you do to a arcade or amusement bowling or where ever you go how much do you spend on those kind of partys?

I just did party for my daughter last month, we rented a place for few hours that had a big bouce house, arcade games and party room. The whole thing costed me about 400 bucks, that includes the hall, food, goddiebags, cake, invites . it was great and I did not have to clean up.

If you're really serious about this, you're asking the wrong questions.

Parents will gladly spend thousands of dollars on their child's birthday.

Go to where the money is by offering your services to an upscale clientel.

But be sure you're ready to efficiently put together and deliver an excellent high end party and word of mouth will take care of the rest.

Promise only what you can deliver -- then OVER deliver and you'll succeed.

Have fun

Ask local daycare centers if you can put up a flier in their buildings or on their doors.
Newspapers usually don;t charge very much to take out a small ad.
Leave business cards around town. Every time you go out to eat, leave one in the bathroom and on the table.
