I am planning on making my own invitations and I was thinking of using black cardstock for the background. If I do that I was planning on layering a pink one on top... Is it considered bad luck or anything??? to include black in a wedding invitation. I just think the pink and black will look sharp... I was also thinking of using a black ribbon to tie the two together.
My bridesmaids will be wearing black dresses with pink ribbons weaved through the waist ...

It will be a darker pink then what is pictured.

I made my own invitations because I couldn't find red and black invites anywhere, I did not want anything classic or white. I found a linen finish cardstock that was black and put a piece of red velum (transparent) paper over the top and tied it with a black satin ribbon, I even had really dark graphite gray envelopes that I addressed with silver metallic ink. They were stunning! Go for the black it isn't bad luck. Here is a site for the paper I used:

I'd like to do it myself to help keep the cost down. What is the easiest, fastest, least expensive way to do this? Where could I purchase black cardstock? If you know of an inexpensive online business, I would consider that also. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I don't get it. I called them and they said thats the rules.

I mean, I can understand the men should match, even though it should be up to the shoe-wearer on what they choose to wear. But why are they requiring all women to wear open-toed shoes? I don't get it.

It is certainly very odd and demanding, but I don't know if I agree with people who are saying not to attend over it. I DON'T think you have to wear the kind of shoes they tell you to, though! Wear whatever shoes you think are appropriate; same thing to your guest if you're bringing one.
