Black Invitation

Examples of types of sorority: Alpha kappa Alpha, Zeta phi beta. I was wondering if anyone can tell me what happens after someone recieves an invitation? Do they have a meeting afterwards? Is there more paperwork after you recieve the invitation? What happens?

My best answer is to just be patient. If you receive a letter then just wait and see what happens. If you haven't then keep it moving. Its all part of the experience.

I am attending a banquet tomorrow night. I want to be sure that I am dressed well but not more formally than others. Should I wear a formal or semi-formal?

which ever you are more comfortable in. black tie optional means you can get as fancy as black tie but its not required. If your date is wearing a black tie then you should wear formal. It he wears a regular suit then go semi formal. If you have no date then pick whichever you want

Black tie means tuxedo. Period. A man in a business suit would be out of place.

I have heard that some areas do not accept writing on black envelopes. I am sending all my invitations from ontario, does anyone know if I need to add an address label, or can i just write on the black envelope as i am for the ones being delivered

I think black envelopes with a gel pen will look slick. Very modern and a little edgy.

As far as whether or not they'll get delivered, in the US at least it should be fine. Maybe you heard something about the US Post Office changing their rules last year? They did- but but it shouldn't apply to you since you'll be mailing things out from Canada. And besides, the USPS new rules only affect the machinability of mail. Now there's a minimum size requirement, you have to pay extra for square envelopes, no wax seals or anything on the back, etc. There's no regulation about envelope color just yet in the US, so if its the States you're worried about, your mail should get delivered.

Does "Black Tie Welcome" mean please come with a tie or does it just mean tie recommended?
Is it actually not polite to come without a tie when "Black Tie Welcome" is mentioned on the invite or is it still just a recommendation? THANKS.

Yes, it is recommended to wear a black tie, but you don't have to. They put this on an invitation to let people know that they don't have to worry about being overdressed, and, as well, so people dress at least semi-formally.
