Black And White Invitation

I'm having a black and white birthday BBQ for my husband's 26th birthday. Does anyone have any tips on the wording for it and how to ask the guests on the invitation to wear black and/or white attire?

I thought I could have something fun like "Lets get Back in Black" (from AC/DC)instead of the old "You're invited", I don't know, just need some help guys!

My friend is throwing a sweet sixteen party. The invitation says that it is black/white attire, dressy-casual. I'm planning to wear a nice black and white spaghetti strap top, dark wash blue jeans, and peep toe pumps. Is it ok to wear jeans?

my friend is relying on me to plan her party. I think a black and white party would be reallllly cool!! She is turning 15 so it's gonna be big! 60 people are invinted. So I need ideas for decorations, food and what to wear! I am part of the 4 important girls in the party, like the brides maids in a wedding, but this is her birthday. We 4 need matching dresses. Please help!!

There's a place around here called "Party Max"..it's a store that has everything you need. Find somewhere like that, if you don't already have one by you. (And make sure there's plenty of Oreo cookies, even if they are a "joke" they're still good!)

I am having a bat mitzvah in april. I want a black and white party so that I can wear a bright color. My mom thinks it's too demanding to say "Black and/or White dress is appreachiated" on the invitation. I think it's not demanding because you can wear black, white, gray, silver, or anything close to black or white. With black, white, silver, and gold decorations I think it would be a classy theme that everybody would enjoy.

If you're telling people what to wear, then yeah it is. I'm not to familiar with the customs of a bar mitzvah other than being a rite of passage. Though, people are coming to celebrate YOU to begin with. Personally, I wouldn't ask for anything other than that. You should be thankful all those people care enough to show up for you.

Anymore the standard "dress comments" on an invite fall on deaf ears so to speak. There is always one guest who is clueless or simply does not care and dresses otherwise. "Black Tie", "Business dress", "Casual", and "Cocktail" all speak to the level of formality. A "Black and White Affair" would be something to which you wear black and white. That I have heard these are formal, however, the time of the event will be indicative, normally a 4 pm barbeque would not imply formal attire, catch my drift?
If the person whom sent you the invite is someone you know well, just ask their intentions, as far as dress code. They will appreciate that you are making the effort to "play the part." Many hosts/hostesses set dress codes to see people out of their everydayness and make there soiree an "event."
