I cannot decide on a wedding invitation! I already have my colors (ivory, black, and gold), but all the invitations I've seen just look so ordinary like they could easily be made in Photoshop with crazy colors, weird fonts, and clip art pictures. My dream invitation would be the one just like Britney Spears' and Kevin Federlines' invitations made by Lehr & Black (http://www.lehrandblack.com/). Photographs are as follows by copying and pasting the URL's.

My problem is that I cannot afford the extravagance of such gorgeous invitations, but I was hoping that there might be someone crafty enough to be able to guide me on making my own that look the same or very similar, that way I can save money and have my dream invitations to impress my guests and make them feel special! These invitations are the closest I can come to my fairytale-themed wedding. Please help!!! All advice is greatly appreciated so thank you in advance!
P.S. The links I have provided may not work since the preview will not show the link in its entirety. If you go to the Lehr and Black website you can view the invitations by searching on the right hand side of the screen for Britney and Kevin. Thanks again!!!
I found some I liked from a picture but could not find any that I loved. I posted a bid on etsy.com saying what I wanted and over 30 people replied wanting to make them. I got 100 invitations for 300 dollars and they are gorgeous. That way, you can get the same look, but for cheap because they are homemade and people need money nowadays. I highly suggest you go to this site and at least post in the alchemy section and see who answers. If you dont like any of the replies, just dont accept any of their bids. It is worth a try!

A good friend of mine is getting married on Oct 25th and I am her maid of honor. She got engaged less than 2 weeks ago. Naturally, I offered to throw her a bridal shower and she accepted, already registered. Well, today I got the invitation to her wedding in the mail. It arrived in a legal envelope and was printed on a piece of decorated paper. I had already picked out the invites for the shower- http://www.target.com/Paisley-Invitation -Kit-Black-Ivory/dp/B0010NY2JG/ref=cm_re views_dp_seemore/602-1848061-9752646?ie= UTF8&coliid=&frombrowse=1&al t%5Fview=custReviews
Now I just wonder what I should do. Obviously, the shower invited are going to arrive after the wedding invitations, which is all wrong, in my book. Also, how tacky is it going to be to have printed invitations for the shower and not the wedding? I even found out that she is inviting some people to the shower but not the wedding. What am I to do. This shower is going to be a reflection of me. I need help. On top of that I am due to have a baby any day. The only time I can do it is Oct 18th b/c that only gives me 4 weeks anyway. I was going to send out the invitations on the 4th. What should I do?
Do whatever you want and whatever makes you comfortable.
It's not your fault they are getting married so soon and had to already send out the invitations. It's not your fault that they made cheap invitations and the bridal shower invitations will be fancier than their wedding invitations -- they probably should have put more thought into it and will probably regret it later, but that's not for you to decide. Just do what you need to do to throw her a great shower. And as far as the guests that aren't invited to the wedding, invite them and let her deal with the problems it may cause. If they ask you why they didn't get a wedding invitation, direct them to ask the bride because you don't know why. That's not your place to say anything. Just do the best you can! :) Congrats on the baby!

I need help with centerpieces!!!
My wedding dress is ivory and champagne. The bridemaids, junior bridemaids dresses are both clover. And the flower girl dresses are ivory and champange.
The wedding invitations are beautiful, but a little too old fashioned for my taste.
I love the flower girl dresses, they're cute.
I love the junior bridesmaids dresses. I think they'll compliment the bridesmaid dress very well.

I'm having trouble planning my wedding with the colors and flowers.. I have bought my dress and its ivory.. For some reason I cant post the link but you can go to davidsbridal.com and type in 9H9572. The dress kinda looks like a vintage dress (to me anyways) and I kinda want to keep that going with the wedding. My invitations look like cutouts from a newspaper. The flowers I have chosen are the Gerber Daisy's in the colors of hot pink and orange, b/c those are my favorite colors. I wont be doing flowers everywhere just in my bouquet and bridesmaids bouquets, and then again in my centerpieces at the reception. But they just don't seem really "vintage" to me. I was thinking maybe changing my colors to red.. but I don't know what to put with it.. maybe black?? or ivory... Im not really into white..
Again I am not able to post the link (still not sure why) but go to davidsbridal.com and type in style 83000 and when that comes up its the bottom middle pic.. the orange and pink... But even if i stay with these colors the dresses I picked out dont have that vintage look to them.. So does anybody have any suggestions on this for me?? Can you give me pictures?? Should I change my colors to the red???
Also im wanting to do bride and groom strawberries as favors.. there about 1.50 a person, does anybody think this will be a good idea?? or does any body else have any suggestions?
Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!
as a vintage clothing collector , and avid wearer , your dress is very 1960's. I like the bridesmaids dresses in the orange/pink , red really just doesn't have that 60's/70's vibe , and most BM dresses from that era are pastels and bright floral colours.
as for the big Gerber daisies , they fit the era wonderfully.
the strawberry flavours are very cute , and most everyone loves them. (i have seen similar ones like you're talking about.)
But don't switch to red , weddings were not as liberal and tradition was key. Red meant bad luck and was not a wedding colour.
I really want to use champagne and ivory for all the decorations, invitations, etc. but this color doesn't look good on my bridesmaids. We're getting married in June of 09 and our wedding is at night. The ceremony is in a church and the reception is outdoors. Our flower colors are ivory and blush pink. Would it be appropriate for me to use black short cocktail dresses for my bridesmaids?
Hi and congratulations!
YES, that will look nice! Very pretty, especially with the flower color choice. You certainly do not have to have everything "matchy-matchy." I love the lighter colors for the decorations and flowers (especially at night), and against the black dresses....it will look beautiful.
Good luck and I hope you have a beautiful wedding!

Wedding Invitation Etiquette — Handmade By 'me'
As your wedding date approaches, you’ll need to think about wedding invitation etiquette and what is most appropriate for the tone of your wedding. Below, you’ll find some examples for casual and formal invitations and how to implement the correct timing in order to receive the most responses.
On average, invitations should be sent three months prior to your wedding date. Perhaps the best way to establish this time is to look at your reception and/or caterer final confirmation requirements. Typically, six weeks beforehand is a good estimate. Allowing four weeks for guests to respond is good etiquette both for your wedding vendors and your guests.
