My daughter is turning 1 and we are having a big birthday party (about 20 or more people) on May 3rd. I still can't decide what kind of cupcakes to make! Help!
These cupcakes will be mostly for adults, my daughter will be eating a shortcake with strawberries (i think she's still too young to eat all the sugar)
AND i want to make it from scratch
Ice Cream Cone Treats
INGREDIENTS
1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
1 (16 ounce) package vanilla frosting
1 ounce colored candy sprinkles
DIRECTIONS
Prepare cake mix batter according to directions, or make any standard cake recipe batter (i.e. white, chocolate, etc.).
Place flat-bottomed ice cream cones in the cups of a regular muffin pan. Pour enough batter into each cone to fill from 1/2 to 2/3 full.
Bake at time and temperature as recommended for cupcakes. After they have cooled, frost with your favorite canned or home-prepared frosting recipe. Decorate with sprinkles or other decorations of your choice.

i really want to find something easy to make for my daughter. She will be one on sept 13th. I want something without sugar and a good recipe for frosting also. i cannot decide on if i should make cupcakes or just a cake? Please share your opinions and what you did. thanks
My opinion is you shouldn't worry about healthy when it comes to birthday cakes. There are 364 other days in the year to be healthy. And no sugar doesn't necessarily mean healthy!
I am doing a cupcake theme for my daughters first birthday so I am baking cupcakes for it. Does anyone have any suggestions on cute ways to decorate them? Thanks for your input!
My sister is the cake maker in the family so my brain is useless but I found a great website with pages and pages of great ideas for you to peruse! Happy Birthday to your daughter and hope this helps!

I want my daughters first cake to be healthy and I can't find any bakeries that make something like that in my area. I'm not skilled at making fancy cakes. Would it be bad to make cupcakes and decorate them cute for a 1st birthday? Does it have to be a cake? I'm thinking of having the theme be little cupcake anyway. thanks for your thoughts.
My daughter's first birthday was yesterday, and we made cupcakes for everyone. They turned out super cute, and we bought a little stand similar to the one below to display them on. We got a lot of great compliments on them, and it was super easy (not to mention less clean-up - they don't require utensils!).
Cupcakes make super cute decorations, too - I think it could be an adorable theme! They have some cute decorations that are intended for Valentine's Day that have cupcakes on them at Jo-Ann Fabrics (we used some for our daughter's decorations). If your daughter's birthday is after Valentine's Day, you may even find them on clearance!
This party will be for my daughter, her first birthday. I've purchased 1st Cupcake plates, cups, etc. The party will be outdoors, where we will construct a cloth tent over a deck. I intend to get a cupcake cake. I've also purchased Pin-the-Candles-on-the-Cupcake and a cupcake Pinata. Any more ideas? I also want to get creative with the goody bags and make them more themed but not sure how. The attending children will be from ages 3-8, boys and girls.
You can make the cake out of filled cupcakes (chocolate, caramel, pistachio filling, fruit, etc)...instead of ordinary cupcakes.
The goody bags can also look like cupcakes made out of a basket (cupcake holder) and filling them with the same color (similar colored) candy to resemble the frosting.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

Happy Birthday! – Caitlin King
We celebrated Caitlin’s first birthday today – it’s hard to believe it’s only been a year, so much has happened.
Several friends and their little ones (ages 7 months to 4 years) came over to help us celebrate. They all had fun playing together, the dog and I are still feeling a bit overwhelmed. Dad needs to take things in baby steps (pun intended).
Here are a couple of videos from Caitlin’s birthday cupcake – she was fairly careful with it at first, but later had fun playing with the frosting.
