Sympathy Greeting Cards

I want to do something special with the sympathy cards we got when my brother passed away. We've got about 40 or 50. I am not really wanting to put them in a scrapbook. But if I can't come up with something else I guess that is what I will do.

We used to display our Christmas cards by taking a large juice can and remove both ends. Wrap yarn or ribbon around the can, lengthwise until it is covered and then slipping the cards under a string all around the can. It can take a lot of cards and doen't take up a lot of space.
I love the idea from ukquilte of scanning the cards.

Last night I went shopping with my wife...

The store we went to had a special on greeting cards...buy two, get one free.

My wife purchased SIX sympathy cards in an attempt to 'stock up' on them.

I was disturbed by this action...I asked her about it and she could only justify it by saying it was a 'good deal'.

How on earth could she buy all these cards at once...is she going to keep them in a drawer and wait to use them??

Besides, how do you know what card to buy until that person actually passes???

Is anyone else disturbed by this?

i would think she should have bought an assortment,birthday,wedding etc..

I had an out-of-state uncle who died recently. I want to send my aunt a sympathy card but don't know what to add as a condolence. (They live out of state and last time I saw him was 11 years ago)

If you have a nice memory of your uncle, even from years ago, it's nice to share that with your aunt. Something like: I wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you this holiday season and remembering fondly Uncle Joe. I'll never forget how kind he was to me as a child (or insert your memory). I hope you find peace and joy in the new year. Love,
