I haven't been successful (yet) in getting my custom illustrations licensed for production. so as an extension of my art and illustration site, www.mimosacreations.com, i've decided to start my own card and stationery company. i want to open an online store, but i'm having trouble narrowing down which printer i should choose to inexpensively print and drop ship my original paperie designs to individuals and shops who buy for retail. . . which leads me to another querie, which shops accept indie stationery brands? ay yi yi! so much to consider! any help would be appreciated. . . thx.
Try the one I use often: www.vistaprint.com
Best of luck.
In this episode of The Joe Show, Counselor Managing Editor Joe Haley takes a look at a growing product segment in the ad specialty market ...
We all know that telling loved ones that you're gay can be a difficult experience. Do you think specialty cards with cute cartoons that do the coming out for you would be a hit?
No homophobic remarks please; I don't like that.
I worked at a certain card store that rhymes with "Wallcart."
Yes, people really do buy "coming out" cards! The reason why we sell them is because there was a high demand for them...but I think they were created more for friends and distant family rather than close family members (I think that coming out to your family is something that is very important and should be told in person).
We didn't have very many "I'm Gay" cards (just one style at the store I worked at in Northern California), but we did have a TON of "Congratulations on Coming Out" or "I support the person you are" types of cards for friends and family members to send to people who have come out.
Also note that international card stores like the one I worked for target regional markets, so not every card store will have such cards. Only stores with a market/demand for the cards would carry them.

there is a 100 sheets and 65 cover wheight 65lb
i need a answer asp plz
Assorted stardust card stock is going to run about $7.49 Canadian dollars for 40 sheets of 65 lb cover weight. So you can expect to buy/sell 100 sheets for about
2.5 X $7.49 = $18.73 Canadian.
Being that it is a specialty stock you could bump up the price a few more dollars, but I don't see anyone paying too much more than that.
I have enclosed a link that lists the prices for various card stock to help you gauge what price you could buy/sell it at.
Hope this helps!

Quick and easy to use.
I am trying to print quotations on the interior of premade greeting cards. Medium weight card stock. Sometimes the quotation appears where I want it, sometimes it moves to the left or right, very frustrating!
The card is not quite flat as it has been folded-does it matter?
Fred, I don't know how to answer you! However my printer does not have a thickpaper/card option. I have tried photo paper option as I believe it is thick.
On the HP, their is a paper adjustment on the tray so that your specialty paper doesn't move. But what you need to do is, to slightly bend the card the other way so that it can feed well in the printer.
The crease is too sharp-angled. Just put it on a blat surface and run your thumb nail on the crease. It should work fine now :-))
Note, that Hp can print 10 pts no problem. Sometimes, 12 pts will work but it depends on the brand and paper quality.
I am doing photos for a friend's wedding, and recently I did her engagement photos, once of which she wanted on an invitation that I designed.
I'm trying to use Mpix.com to print these invitations, but it told me that it couldn't upload because the resolution doesn't meet the 400 by 800 standard. (I'm using the Specialty Products - Greeting Card - Blank 4x8)
So, I went into PhotoShop and it told me the original photo that I used in the invite was at 72 resolutions, so I'm thinking I screwed everything up somehow, and am super stressed out. I used MPix last year to do my sister's graduation invites and had no problems like this, so I don't know what I did differently, or if they changed their uploading requirements or something. I don't want to order a hundred invites only to have the photo be totally grainy, but I really can't put this off because they waited until the absolute last minute to tell me what to order, lol.
Is there any way to fix this?? I have such a headache. :-(
If you have the original picture you can still fix it. 72 DPI is web resolution as monitors can't display higher than that... plus is convenient when you are E-mailing or uploading to your web site. Print Resolution is 200, 250 or 300 DPI. I use 200 DPI for print.
Open the original file in Photoshop, go to IMAGE and scroll down to SIZE. Set the resolution to 200.
Good luck
