Picture Greeting Cards

Should I be saving the Christmas picture greeting cards that people give during the holidays? Is it appropriate to keep them or can I just throw them away?

I have mine in a picture album! It is fun to see how families/kids grow over time. Make sure you date them if they are not dated. Also make sure you write the people's names down - in the future your great grand kids might wonder who these people were!

You can also use the picture the next year. Get it enlarged and make a puzzle out of it and sent the card/puzzle back to whoever sent it to you in the first place.

You can make ornaments out of the pictures. Use it in scrap-booking. Have fun!

For Christmas last year, our neighbors sent us the coolest christmas card. It was sent on the computer and it pictures of each of their heads on a separate elf body. They were doing different things and there was music playing. Does anyone know where I can find those cards?

My picture on a greeting card of a major greeting card company. The picture is over 50 years old. Who knows how long this company has had it and how long they have been making cards with it. I did not give any permission for my picture to be on a card at any point of time in my life. I didn't sign any paperwork for it. What can/should I do?

Perhaps your parents signed the papers when you were a child, and the company still retains the rights to the photo? Are you absolutely certain it is you? I mean, do you have a copy of the exact photo in question? I'd start by contacting the greeting card company and ask them about the picture. If you don't like the answer you get, gatehr all your evidence and contact an attorney. If it is in fact you and you own the rights to the photo, then the company owes you compensation for using your likeness. Then again, if the photo is over 50 years old, it could be considered public domain by now, kinda like happens with music.

EDIT: Barry, I'm sure you know that in the case of photographs, the photographer, not the subject, owns the copyright. It's possible the photographer in this case transferred the copyright either in writing or through their will. If the photographer who did my photos as a child transferred the copyright to a greeting card company, they would have full use of my likeness.

Hi there,
I have an account with Picasa and got the pic up, selected the xmas card I wanted, but the picture is not coming up, even though I held it it the tray.
I live in Ireland. Anybody else I can try.
I also had problems with Picasa ordering items, as my credit card was renewed in Sept. and I have had problems with them since my details were changed after numerous questions to them
Thanks for your help.

left click on the picture u want to save right click save in my pictures then u can print or e-mail from that hope this helps
