Marriage Greetings

I want to write a kanji for somebody for their wedding. I would like something traditional, however it must be one character only. Any ideas?

here are some traditional chinese wedding greetings (they probably exist in japan as well):

白頭偕老 = live to a ripe old age in marital bliss
早生貴子 = give birth to a child soon
永結同心 = be always of one mind
百年好合 = live a hundred years happy together

the first one is the most used, I suggest you use this instead of any one character (4 characters can take the space of one), like this:

偕白
老頭

(you write top-to-bottom, right-to-left)

Marriage is basically a Christian belief and a tradition so a man and a woman can become one in front of the Lord. And to be fruitful and multiply.
That's the way I see it anyway.

Hi. I'm from Poland. I would like to send a postcard to my brother and his wife in Finland. I want to write some Easter greetings and some wedding greets (1st anniversary of marriage) in finnish too. Can you help me, please? I will be appreciated for any propositions - with their translation to english... 'cause I wanna know the meaning ;) Cheers :)

The standard greeting in Finnish Easter cards is simply:

Hyvää pääsiäistä!
Good Easter!

Or

Hauskaa pääsiäistä!
Happy Easter!

If your brother and sister-in-law are very religious, you could also use:

Siunattua pääsiäistä!
A blessed Easter!

For a first wedding anniversary one of these two should work:

Onnellisia paperihäitä!
Happy “paper wedding”! (paper wedding is the traditional term for the first wedding anniversary)

Or

Hyvää yksivuotis hääpäivää!
Happy one year (wedding) anniversary!

Greetings all!

I was wondering how many sexual partners does a girl usually have before marriage.

I guess I'm more of a traditionalist in this area (I don't know why) but deep down in my heart there is always the guilt (or displeasure?) that she had more than 1 sexual partners before me.

Does people still think this way, or is it more socially accepted that most girls will have more than 1 sexual partners before marriage?

PS: I'm not religious or anything.

Look at what a wreck California has made of it's constitution. Now it's in conflict with itself. There is an explicit ban on gay marriage, yet the equal protection clause has already been interpreted to apply to same sex marriages. I can't believe it really. They just voted to deny someone a right who has done nothing wrong. It's sick.

I'm interested to hear from any libertarians who supported this decision, because to me this is a definite encroachment on personal freedom. And don't tell me that they still have the right to marry the opposite sex, that's irrelevant.

Perhaps this is why we elect leaders who will go and make intelligent and informed decisions instead of leaving the decision up to the masses who can be easily influenced by ad campaigns and such.

Any libertarian that supported that piece of chit is no libertarian in my book. Some of your answerer's talk about God. An all powerful God would not allow (create?) gays if God did not want gays.
