the blank ones, as the greeting card companies can never say what I want to say.

My sister-in-law is dying of cancer and she has a birthday coming up. How and what do I write on her birthday card ? I can't write "Happy Birthday" as it certainly is not a happy occasion. Please don't generalize.

My son was going to have a birthday party a couple of weeks ago but we had to cancel it for personal reasons (long story). So we had a little party with just the 3 of us (me, my spouse, and our son).
Most of my mom friends who knew about his birthday and his birthday party, didn't even send a happy birthday greeting for my son via email, phone or card.
They didn't even have to send a card or a gift to him, it would be nice for them to acknowledge a "happy birthday" to him via email at least. But they didn't think about it or something.
Only 1 out of 5 mom friends acknowledge a "happy birthday" via email.
And one of the moms who is one of my best friends with didn't acknowledge his birthday, we mailed her daughter a target card, birthday card, and homemade jam for her 4th birthday. They live in another state so we had to mail the gift.
I feel hurt and offended by this. I know it doesn't matter for our son. He had a blast for the little party we threw for him.

Personally I completely understand where you're coming from. To me, it's worse to ignore a child's birthday than an adults! I would be more annoyed if a friend missed my children's birthdays than if they missed mine, that's for sure. I think it's incredibly thoughtless, to say the least, and I don't care what anyone says, EVERYBODY understands reciprocating a simple birthday card or greeting.

If his birthday is tomorrow? We still love each other and everything, but we're just being friends for the time being. So... should i get him a birthday present? A happy birthday card? or just a happy birthday greeting on email/text/call him up?
If i should get him a present...what would be appreciated? or accepted? He's a guy, turning 19, native american, likes v games and extreme sports, very intelligent and thinks about everything. What would be a good gift?

umm well if i was on good terms with her still then yeah i would :)

you should get him something that he can remember and keep for a long time, even though your not with him but still yano ^_^ it up to you really, you know him best, not us so you have the freedom to decide :)
