I've been designing custom greeting cards for a while now to sell and need a new site to get them printed from. I don't want to upload a single picture then just customize borders and text, etc., I want to be able to upload a .jpg that is a completly original design. I'm fairly computer savy so I don't need a user friendly or walk-through type site. I want good quality and the ablity to print small amount of greeting cards-- anywhere from 10 to 50 cards at a time (that being the hardest part as most sites have a minimum of 1,000 cards). I've used overnightprints.com before but while their post cards are wonderful, their greeting cards seem flimsy.
I'd love to hear recommendations and any past experiences you've had.
Have you tried a printing shop in your city? They can do things off CD or disk and have no minimum requirements. Laser photocopy (color) is available at all of them now. Their prices vary, so call around. PIP Printing and Econoprint are good to use at the low end of the spectrum.
If you want REALLY low cost, try Office Depot. They'll use card stock on these though, they don't have slick card stock if you wanted all the bells and whistles.

I want to start making custom invitations for children's birthdays, bridal, baby showers etc... There are a lot of people who have ebay stores and web sites where they have a bunch of custom cards and I am pretty sure they made them. I want to know how to make those! Is it Print shop? Thank you
Adobe CS5 – when you have In-Design, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat, you can do anything! It's not cheap, but if your good, it will pay for itself. Anything less is a waste of money!

Does anyone know of a company that produces custom photo greeting cards that do not have their own info on the back? I've liked what I've had made at places like Shutterfly or Kodak, but the finished products have their web address and logo on the back. I'd like my own info to be there instead. Thanks!
I'm looking for professionally-produced greeting cards to sell, not something I ran off on my photo printer, or blank cards that I glued a picture on. Thanks for the suggestions, though!
You might be better off heading down to your local craft store, getting blank greeting cards, and putting your own photo on them either printed directly or mounting good prints on them with acid free photo mounts. I've gotten these at Michael's and Hobby Lobby to print up my own invitations and the like.
There's a local photographer who does their own greeting cards featuring their work. They just mount a nice 4x6 print on the front.
If you're looking for something to do in large quantities, check with local printers.
--EDIT--
Then go with a local printer who'll do it the way you want.

Something like printfree.com. I already have some card designs made and I have a web hosting plan with plenty of storage space. But I need to know how to set it up like printfree.com or something similar. Anybody have a clue as to how I can start?
Printfree.com allows you to put your own custom text in the card., that's what I want.

does anybody know of a place where i can find musical greeting cards online? or just a list of the songs they make them in? i know where they sell them, but i can't find them online just to look. i think it's hallmark that makes them?
actually- what i'm looking for is a way to make my own, just a custom one that i can either order or record my own song on. have you ever seen this done? or do i just have to settle for what they have already made?
Yes, there is a way!
You can order or find at a scrapbook store a "memory button" that has the capability of recording 10-30 seconds or so. So, you won't get an entire song but you will get some of it.
So, you can create the card of your choice and then attach the button to the card. You can cover the button with matching paper so that it is somewhat hidden.

The Squirrels Are Taking Over - I'm doing custom cartoons & poems ...
I'm starting to save up funds for two writers' conferences (SCBWI Winter & Summer Conferences in New York & L.A.) I plan to attend next year, and am looking for ways to help pay for transportation, hotel, fees, meals, etc. Not to mention all the books I know I'll have to buy from the SCBWI bookshop after hearing all the inspirational talks and workshops. So....I'm re-opening my Etsy shop! Unfortunately I lack the time to do many hand-painted pieces these days, but I -am- taking on custom cartoon projects. The image at the top of this entry is one I did last year for a client who wanted a unique housewarming gift. She printed this image out, framed it, and presented it to the couple....
