Holiday Greeting Cards?

If you owned, or own a corporate business, what would you like to see on your holiday greeting cards that you send out. As far as pictures, words, greetings, or symbols. What are some things that you can rarely find in a greeting card that you would like to see? I'm in the process of creating a greeting card for a scholarship contest. Which is why I'm asking people what they would like to see.


Since there are many ways that people from different cultures celebrate the "holidays," I prefer to send these kinds of things just before Thanksgiving. This also goes hand-in-hand with thanking clients, and the text on the card should reflect that. Statistics prove that something that is "hand-written" is considered more personal, and read more often.

Cornucopias are always beautiful and express giving thanks for a bountiful harvest. Here are some sites for you to get ideas:

Should I quit my job?

I just got a job at this greeting cards company. Previously I had been unemployed for months. So, i had been thinking of getting into freelancing since I am from Malaysia and because of the conversion rate, a job from someplace like US which pays very little isn't so little in Malaysian ringgit. So i start to post my profiles to some sites and i got an offer from a Singapore based company to do freelance for them at a fixed fee. Their offer is basically the same amount as half of what i could get for a permanent job... So, if I took the job I only need to get a few more jobs (one of two, assuming one job is at least $100 USD) to fill up my quota of how much I should try to make in one month. From what I've seen, I really like this Singapore company as they do the kind of things that i like. But, since I've never had a proper job as a designer before, i though it would be a great experience to work full time. The problem is, the job at the card company is just not challenging enough for me. It is downright boring. they do greeting cards for corporate companies... Which means, their cards are very traditional looking. if it is a christmas card, they'll have the tree and the snow and the presents... they won't have some crazy illustration like a clown dancing in the snow or something like that... basically I have only been there for less than a week and i am already regreting my decision to work there. it is just unbearable. there is no excitement that comes with when you get a really ingenius or creative idea because creativity is not required. but, I am also a bit reluctant to quit because this company is willing to give me a chance. But, at the same time, because my last job was to do this photo slideshow for a wedding, words have gotten out that I can do really nice video and there is a big chance that I could get a job from this other company to make more videos (This company organize lectures once a month and at the start of the lecture they ussually have a fifteen minutes video slideshow about the biodata of the speaker). One video job is enough for me to live another month. It just pays a lot. The last one was way more than what I make at this card company in a month. So, anyway...


I should quit the job because:
1. no creative environment
2. long hours (they actually encourage you to do overtime as late as 10pm - normal working hours are 8:30am to 5pm)
3. unflexible hours
4. freelancing allow me to choose what I want to do
5. the Singapore job plus video jobs would be more than enough to make up my monthly quota
6. I have more time to do other things.
7. I have time to explore/develop my own design style
8. increase happiness
9. I don't think I can do both because after the overtime, i am too tired to even think.

I should NOT quit the job bcos
1. Permanent pay
2. Job security
3. This company is a really nice company (The people here are really nice, even my boss - I have friends who have gotten a job at worst companies - I am so lucky)
4. Exposure to real working life
5. i haven't given myself enough chance for me to love the job (i have only been working for less than a week)
6. can't think of any other reason...

so, please please please someone... give me a clue... should I quit my job or shouldn't I. i believe, if I had gotten this job before I started to get really into freelancing, I would probably would have been grateful for any job that I got. but, since i have other means to earning my pay, I really don't feel that I should stay and slave away day and night just because I don't want to hurt anybody's feeling. Please some one help me... guide me...


Only you can answer this question. Weigh the pros and cons. Look at yourself. Is tis what you want? If so go for it. Do not look back and try your best.

how do you confront a rude storeclerk about thier Hostility ?

ok, here goes - I realize
I should stay home when I am hormonal.
I am a bit sensitive -but this one takes the cake !! hormonal or not .

I was at Movie gallery Monday .
I walked in and I was not greeted by the only sales clerk " Store Manager " COME TO FIND OUT .
No problem.

I greeted her .
and cheerfully asked her if she knew when a certain movie came out .
I told her my kids had this card stating September 26th.
she said that it was not even at the movie theatres yet .
I said oh .
then I asked her if she had " SPACE CHIMPS A KIDS MOVIE .
She replied " rather quitely .
New Releases .
I said " I am sorry where >?"
she said RATHER LOUDLY THIS TIME " NEW RELEASES"

I looked at the back of the wall and this thing went forever .
it is bigger than the block buster .
I have'nt been in a Rental place for a really long time because I use Netflix now .
but I wanted a movie for the kids now .
so i started at one end of the room and made my way around .
I finally found it .

no help from the manager and she acted put out that i was there .

I asked her (because she was now WORKING near by , if she knew where i could find the Dutchess .

she never turned her head toward me .
or came near me .

she just extended and arm and pointed and " there ! "

she was not going to exert herself one iota .
so I said " I AM sorry , where ?"
and she pointed and said " there there there !"
she till did tell me where and she was a good 50 feet away from the wall - it could have been any where .
so I went over to general area and looked .
after 10 minutes - I found it .
by then I thought " gawd what a witch !"
so i get up to the register and she looks at me - LIKE SHE HATED ME ....AND SAID " CARD !"

I could not contain myself any longer .
YAHOO for the one word wonder !
I stepped back from the counter .
and just looked at her .
she said " CARD !"
and I said " WOW !"
she said " wow what !"
I said ," you know , I was'nt going to say anything , but you are being terribly rude "
she said : " No, I 'm not . How am I being rude "
I told her how she behaved while I was there .
And she said " what ever !!"
I am not Rude !"
I said 'YES YOU ARE ."
AND she said " Well , I guess I could have walked over there taken it off the shelf and put it in your hand .!"
I replied " that would have been helpful !"
I paid for the movies and left feeling angry and sick inside like - I wanted to slap her face .
because really that is how she treated me .

Was I wrong in confronting her rude behavior ?

should I report her to the corporate offices ?

I should have seen the Red flags of unresponsiveness and realized -
I was not going to get any service today .
I would have been happier with red box
'or net flix.

I really hate dealing with disgruntled employees .
who take out thier misery on the paying customer .

my kids were with me .
I told them that people skills go along way .
but a bad attitude is just plain UGLY .
kinda ruined my afternoon .

She was in the wrong, you were in the right. She should have taken you over to where the movies were (in Movie Gallery, they are alphabetically on the walls). She did not care to help you and probably hates her job (Store Managers at my Movie Gallery are new just about every month) so I WOULD report her to corporate offices. If you know she was the store manager than I would make sure to document what time and day you went in if you didn't see her name. Report her, I do it all the time when I get bad service.

I WENT TO SALLY BEAUTY SUPPLY STORE IN CITRUS PARK (ADDRESS BELOW) ONLY 3 MILES FROM OUR HOME TO USE THE $5.00 RENEWAL COUPON SENT TO ME VIA MY ON-LINE SALLY’S REWARDS CUSTOMER CARD RENEWAL. I AM NOT A RETAIL STORE AND AM JUST REGULAR CUSTOMERS AT SALLY’S. MY PURCHASES WERE WELL OVER $5.00 BEING IN ORDER TO USE THE COUPON I NEEDED TO HAVE PURCHASED MORE THAN $5.00. WHILE AT THE REGISTER, I ASKED THE ASSOCIATE/CASHIER IF I COULD USE MORE THAN ONE COUPON AND WAS TOLD THAT I COULD NOT. NEXT, THE ASSOCIATE ASKED IF I HAD MY SALLY’S CARD AND HANDED OVER MY REWARDS TAG ATTACHED TO MY KEY’S. THE ASSOCIATE/CASHIER THEN STATED THAT THE REWARDS ACCOUNT ON THE COUPON DID NOT MATCH THE REWARDS TAG I HAD GIVEN HER. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I REALIZED THEY DID NOT MATCH. THE ASSOCIATE/CASHIER OFFERED NO OTHER MEANS OF PURCHASE AND JUST STATED THAT SHE COULD NOT US THE COUPON BECAUSE THE ACCOUNT NUMBERS DID NOT MATCH. I EXPLAINED I HAD RENEWED MY MEMBERSHIP ON-LINE, TOOK MY COUPON BACK, THANKED THE ASSOCIATE/CASHIER, EXPLAINED I WOULD GO TO ANOTHER LOCAL STORE TO USE THE COUPON, AND LEFT. AT APPROXIMATELY 12:00 P.M., I ARRIVED TO THE SALLY BEAUTY STORE IN NORTH POINTE (ADDRESS BELOW) AND AGAIN WAS GREETED WITH PLEASANTRIES FROM THE ASSOCIATE/CASHIER AND MANAGER. AFTER AGAIN, SHOPPING AROUND THE STORE AND GATHERING MY PURCHASES I WENT TO THE REGISTER TO CHECK OUT. I GAVE THE ASSOCIATE/CASHIER MY COUPON AND SHE ASKED FOR THE SALLY’S REWARD CARD I THEN GAVE HER MY KEY TAG. AT THIS POINT IN TIME, THE MANAGER GOES TO THE COUNTER AND TAKES THE COUPON FROM THE ASSOCIATE/CASHIER AND USES A GREEN HIGHLIGHTER TO HIGHLIGHT THE ACCOUNT NUMBER ON THE COUPON AND THEN READS MY NAME ON THE COUPON AND THEN BEGAN TO DISGRACE ME IN A VERY LOUD VOICE.
Manager:“OH, I JUST GOT A CALL FROM THE CITRUS STORE. YOU ARE TRYING TO PERPETUATE A FRAUD ON THE STORE. YOU ARE A FRAUD. GET OUT OF MY STORE. YOU WILL NOT BE PERPETUATING A FRAUD ON MY STORE. GET OUT OF MY STORE.

MANAGER: “YOU CANNOT RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP ON-LINE. THAT IS A LIE. IT CANNOT BE DONE ON-LINE.
MANAGER: “GET OUT OF MY STORE. I JUST GOT A CALL ABOUT YOU; YOU ARE TRYING TO USE MORE THAN ONE COUPON.
MANAGER: “DON’T SPEAK TO HER. I WANT HER OUT OF MY STORE.

ALL THE TIME THE MANAGER SPOKE WITH ME, SHE WAS WAVING HER ARMS OVER HER SHOULDERS AND USING A LOUD VOICE. IN THE BACK ROOM/STOCK ROOM WAS A WOMAN WHO DID NOT INTERFERE WITH THE SITUATION.

ON THE SAME DAY BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 12:20 – 12:45 P.M., AFTER I CALLED COSTUMER SERVICE AND HEADQUARTERS, I SPOKE WITH TWO CUSTOMER SERVICES REPRESENTATIVES, ONE SUPERVISOR AND LASTLY THE TERRITORIAL MANAGER. WITHIN THESE CONVERSATIONS, THE FIRST CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE STATED NO SUPERVISOR WAS AVAILABLE BECAUSE OF TRAINING, THE SECOND CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT WAS INCORRECT AND VERY WRONG, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SUPERVISOR STATED I WOULD HAVE TO SPEAK WITH THE DISTRICT MANAGER WHO WAS PRESENT AT THE NORTH POINTE SALLY BEAUTY STORE AND DID NOTHING TO DIFFUSE THE SITUATION. APPARENTLY, I WAS GIVEN A NEW MEMBERSHIP WHEN I RENEWED MY ON-LINE ACCOUNT AND THE OLD ACCOUNT WAS ALSO RENEWED, AGAIN OUT OF MY CONTROL AND OF THE FAULT OF SALLY; THEREFORE, I HAD TWO EXISTING SEPARATE ACCOUNTS, WHICH WAS THE REASON FOR TWO DIFFERENT ACCOUNT NUMBERS. LASTLY, I SPOKE WITH THE TERRITORIAL MANAGER WHO WAS THE ONLY ONE, AGAIN THE ONLY ONE, WHO LISTENED TO WHAT HAPPENED SINCERELY AND WAS WILLING TO END THE DISCREPANCIES AND MAKE REPARATION. HUMILIATION HAS REACHED A BOILING POINT FOR ME. NEVER IN MY LIFE COULD I HAVE FORESEEN SUCH AN INCIDENT OCCURRING!
