We are doing a set of Gift Certificates for my mom for her birthday. It will include a gift card to her favorite place to clothes shop. one for a haircut. and one for her pictures taken.
Any ideas on how to word the enclosure to explain what the items are for. Other than just being direct. I would like to be fun with it or something.

I am planning on taking my mother shopping for Christmas so I was going to create a gift certificate and say something like this is a $200 gift certificate to go shopping with your daughter...something along those lines, I don't just want to give her money b/c she will spend it on bills or something that's not related to her and she hasn't been shopping for herself in a long time. So anyone have any ideas how I should create this gift certificate or how exactly I should word it?
thnx
Make it as though she has won a shopping spree, with of course a budget of $200...
You could make an envelope with "you're a winner" on the front, etc, etc, get really creative with it. If you could get your hands on one of those publisher's clearing house things, that would be neat!
Oh well, that's all I've got...hope it helps!
I am organizing a baby shower for my cousin who just moved to a different state (350 miles away). All our friends and family are here. The problem is that because they are traveling soo far it would not be idea to get gifts because transporting them back to their home will be a major added task/cost. It has been suggested to include in the invitation a small card that explains their situation and where guest are asked for a gift card and not an actual gift. Is this tacky? How can I word it appropriately?
Maybe do a shipping address and have the gift givers mail everything to their house. The gift givers can include a photo of what they gave so the new mom can open and see what each person gave?
Good Luck
I have an auto detailing business in Washington D.C. We've been in business for 15 years and I would like to get the word out about our gift certificates for the holiday season. We have a great internet presence and I do advertise the gift certicates online but the only way someone would find out about them is if they typed in auto detailing, washington d.c.,gift certificates. This doesn't happen often. I need to find a way to hit my target audience. I would really like to get an e-mail list for my surrounding area.

Gift certificates gift cards etc etc. Are difficult to promote on their own.
To get your customers into having the expectation of you offering them consider the following.
You must first as a promotion offer these gift certificates as a gesture of goodwill when someone makes a purchase of X amount of dollars they get a gift certificate valuing Y amount of dollars.
Once your customers are aware that have certificates then after a while of giving them away for free to build up goodwill.
People will eventually purchase them seperately, once you have established goodwill. And at that point you can market them seperately.
It should also be said that gift cards certificates are not as popular in every business situation. Since you're not an electronics store or a fancy restaurant.
You may be just in the type of business that people would not to get a gift certificate because people will have their car detailed less often than go out for a meal.
Hope I have put it in perspective.
My best friend is getting married and I'm hosing the bridal shower. Her and her fiance have been living together for 8 years and have everything they could need for the house. She suggested gift certificates only and a honeymoon themed wishing well. Does anyone have any tactful wording for the invitation to suggest gift certificates only?
Despite what the majority of the answers say, having a Themed Shower is perfectly acceptable. This is becoming a growing trend among brides. As times change so do traditions. There are many web sites out there have advice, tips and invitation wording for these type of showers. Have fun and definitely go for it. It sounds wonderful to me.

When guests RSVP explain the idea about the gift certificates and the honeymoon. It may be easier to get the point across that way then in writing.

Since 1980, our fair city has added more centerline miles to our roadway system than exist in all of Pueblo. That's a lot of road. So you're forgiven if you've somehow missed a couple of the 10 independent retailers featured here while commuting about.
But as you look around for local shopping options this holiday season, consider swinging by a few of these places for a visit. Whether more into venison or vacuums, your gift-list beneficiaries wouldn't want it any other way.
