Gift Certificate Promotion

A friend of mine got a promotion and I want to send him a restaurant gift card. I don't know Houston well. He lives by where I-10 and I-45 meet, by Woodland Park.

Do you have any recommendations for a nicer restaurant near there? I'll spend $100 on a certificate.
So out of all the possible choices of restaurants in Houston, you would suggest Outback or Olive Garden?

I remember I had a brunch at the Magnolia Bar & Grille. Could you suggest something along those lines?

or if he likes chinese food, China Ko.

here in central La. the radio station and t.v. stations offer gift certificates 1/2 off or a reasonable % off of Original price gift certificates. I was wondering if any one heard about Bath & Body having any kind of promotons like that in their region.

I live in Florida- West Palm Beach region and I went to Bath & Body at lunch today. They were having great sales! Lots of gift sets were half off- great items on sale. I would pay your local store a visit.

My husband is being promoted to Chief and I would like to present him with a meaningful and unique gift to honor him in reaching his goal. While researching ideas, I saw that it is possible to have a flag flown over our nation's Capitol to commemorate special occasions. The flag is sent to the recipient along with a certificate verifying authenticity that includes information about why the flag was flown and for whom.

While I love the idea of this, I'm unsure if this would be received poorly due to any military customs/etiquette that I'm unaware of. Would it be inappropriate?

I would have a custom display made for the flag that would have a place to display the certificate as well. The hope is that he could display it in his office.

What are some gift suggestions.
She is super picky and I am not sure a gift certificate says enough.
(She is 40ish, active, and of thin build)

Does she like to get massages or facials? Give her a nice certificate for a full or half day at a local spa.

If she doesn't already have a nice briefcase, get her one from Coach (they cost about $500)

Buy her a nice Armani or Burberry suit (if she wears suits to work)

Buy her a nice piece of jewlery (diamond bracelet or earrings)
