Gift Certificate Coupon

I have a gift certificate/coupon of this expensive store that is worth (for example,) 500 dollars.
If I exchange it into money, then I will get to keep 60~70% of it (keep only around $350, lose $150!!). But, if I use it, I can get up to 40% of the money. (for example, I buy shoes and a bag that cost 300$ total. then I get to keep 200$ because I used at least 60% of it) But then again, it's only $200 of the $500.
the thing is, I DON'T want to buy expensive stuff. I just want the money!!!

The only other options are :
1) Sell the gift certificate for at least $400 to a friend (kinda impossible...b/c I'm selling it for a higher price than the market!!)
2) Buy the stuff with the certificate and sell the products for half~75% of the price (I dunno if ppl will buy expensive things... and it could take alot of time to sell them..)
3)...Ran out of ideas..help appreciated (alot?)

So yeah, what do you think is the most economical, productive, and SMART choice?! I dont wanna waste money buying expensive brands..
Help me out please! Creative ideas would be awesome!

You can also try to exchange it for another gift certificate from store you actually use. You can exchange it for a walmart certificate, gas, grocery, etc.

You should be able to find a lot of websites that can help you with the gift certificate trading. I haven't used any of them, so I can't recommend, but you should look into them.

Lastly, yes people still buy expensive brands. What you consider expensive may not be for others, so the idea of buying and selling may not be a bad one, just a lot of hassle for what you're getting.

For the coupons you talked about, Amazon.com is your first priority resource, which means you can find many coupons there very easily. You can search discount coupons on Amazon.com or you can go to amazon discount finder ( http://www.tophotdeal.com ) to get those coupons organized by category directly.

For all other online stores' coupons, I suggest you to visit http://www.retailmenot.com for more detail. They collect almost 90% of all online shopping stores' coupons.

I got 2 free extra value meal gift certificate coupons from mcdonalds and they say only redeemable at 5 diff. locations with the addresses and stuff but on the paper it came with it says at any of our mcdonalds branches and i was wondering if i could still use them at any other McDonalds thats not listed on the little coupon card thing? before i try using it at one that is not listed incase they look at it and say i can't use it there. any help would be great! and idk if it matters but i live in ny if that helps

I would say that you have to use them at the places that are listed on them.
