I recieved a gift certficate to beauty salon (in the UK) for Christmas for several services (the gift card is worth 50 pounds). Do I need to tip when the services are done, or is this somehow included with the certificate????
The gift certificate is just like cash to the operator... if you get a manicure, find out the price and tip accordingly.

Trying to have coin gift certificates made for my business instead of paper certificates. Coins would have different value of monies printed on them for customers to purchase. Instead of gift cards which so many dept. stores offer.
Craft stores sell metal coins and wooden 'nickels' ....you could make your own! You have an idea there....
I bought a gift certificate for a couple at church to a beauty salon that two women from the church openned together. That was November..In April the women split up and the lady this couple liked better went on her own. They returned the gift certificate to me unused ( in secret).I thought by now they would have used it..I'm not uinterested in using if , but it was $50 ,so I would not to lose the money. I was trying to do a good thing since they could use the money..but no good deed goes unpunished..Do I now get one for the other ladys/ salon or just let it go?

A friend sent me a link to some d-i-y gift certificates on the web years ago. I'd guess they're still available. Go to Google and type in "make your own gift certificates" or some such thing and hit Enter.
You'd want to do them two or three to a page, printed on cardstock or coverstock, and then fold them yourself. Print on both sides, allowing ample drying time in between printings, before cutting them apart.
