I have many non-believing friends. Our Christmas cards are almost always Christian theme (photo cards from Walmart). I've never heard complaints of it before so I'm assuming it's not been offensive to anyone that I know of.
Would it be offensive to you though? Why or why not?
(please, keep it civil. that's all I ask)
pdooma- not in the least :) and you are right, the wise men didn't show up until later, but for some reason they are almost always in the nativity... lol.
Would it surprise you all to learn I was once agnostic? :) I understand both sides of the fence pretty well, though I am now biased to one side now.
I would say half of the Christmas cards we receive are of religious nature. I don't mind, at all. I like getting Christmas cards!
On a side funny note: You know how some people will wrap gifts in religious paper? Well, last year my mom wrapped everyones gifts in Jewish wrapping paper. When we pointed it out (because she isn't jewish) she just laughed and said "Oh, I thought it was just so pretty!" ha ha
SURE I LOVE THE CHRISTMAS SEASON ALL THE PRETTY STARS AND ANGELS SCENTED CANDLES GOLD AND SILVER GLITTER THAT PEELS OFF AND MAKES A MESS RIGHT ON ...
Ok, so my school is having a contest for taking a photo of something that truly means Christmas. (it is a private catholic school, so religious ideas are fine). it is going to be put on the front of christmas cards. it is due november 21 so it is kind of a bummer, no snow, not much christmas things up. so if you have any ideas, please let me know. thanks! =)
When you think of Christmas what do you think of? Do you think of the Christmas tree, candy canes, presents, snow and orniments? Or do you think of newborn Jesus in Mary's arms?
When I think of Christmas, the religious side, I think of baby Jesus, all the animals, and everything from the story of Jesus' birth. When I think of the non-religious side I think of my family, everyone being together, celebrating together, the smiles on my neices and nephews faces as they open the presents and finding they got exactly what they wanted, everyone laughing and sharing stories.
I guess it all depends on how YOU think of Christmas.
Good luck!
Remembering a World War II Death Trap — and a Miraculous Rescue
Sixty-five years ago today, U.S. Marines iconically raised the American flag atop Mt. Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima.
And 65 years ago today, hundreds of miles to the south, my aunt walked to freedom.
Sister Mary Beata Mackie spent over three years in a Japanese internment camp in the Philippines during World War II. Like most of the more than 2,100 others in the camp, she was malnourished and emaciated in the end.
Sister Mary Beata was one of 53 Maryknoll Missionary Sisters caught in the invasion of the Philippines after Pearl Harbor.
Most of the internees had to be carried out of the camp they were so weak.
Their liberation was possibly the most incredible airborne rescue behind enemy lines ever devised. It was initiated by Gen. Douglas MacArthur and recognized by all as miraculously maneuvered.

Them.
He argues that with Facebook and other social media, the cards are redundant. Your friends now see photos of your kids year-round, so why do they need a Christmas card with yet more photos?
He has a point, I suppose.
But I still love getting the cards –and the photos. I love sending them, too. Oh, and my photo-disliking colleague? His wife sends lovely cards — with photos of their kids on them!
What say you: Do you like to see photos in Christmas cards?
I don’t mind at all. Even with social media, I still don’t see everyone since not everyone I know is even involved with social media. And for some of us old fogeys (I am 34 lol) having photos on hand means so much more than just looking in someone’s photo album on facebook. It means I am special enough in their life to have a photo. An online photo is still “theirs”….or at least in my mind.
