I know a really great guy who will be spending Christmas alone. He will not be able to be with his child or anyone that cares about him. He is currently working in a remote village. I would like to help make Christmas happen for him. I can't afford a lot, but I want to send a large flat rate box or two his way that brings everything Christmas to him.
I thought about the things you think of at Christmas time and came up with this short list:
The religious aspect of Christmas
Smell of food cooking
Good food to eat
Presents
Christmas Tree
Feeling of comfort and relaxation
Company of family/loved ones
Does anyone have other things to add to this list?
Now, I want to send something in my box that will correspond with each of these things. But, I would love to have input from others as too what would be a good representation of these things
I will be baking him some food and mailing it to him. Maybe even buy prepared ham or turkey that is packaged to stay good no matter what the temperature is. Than he could open it and microwave it. So food will go in the box to cover the food part.
The smell of food cooking could be a candle like pumpkin pie or something like that. Any other ideas?
I was going to buy a super small tree and little decorations so that he can put up his own little tree.
I will send him a present and a card to cover the presents.
What should I do about feelings of comfort and relaxation? Maybe a comfy blanket, but that is kind of a girly thing. Who wants to go sit by them self with a comfy blanket? So I really need some ideas for this one! <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<QUESTION
What are good ways to convey the religious aspect? I religious Christmas card? Perhaps a small framed verse or a meaningful poem? (I mean, he is a guy so I don't know if poetry will do it for him. lol) Perhaps a specially selected religious book about Christmas that is really short from Barnes and Noble...he isn't much of a reader. Any ideas would be very appreciated! <<<<<<<<<<<<<QUESTION
And the hardest one of all: What is a good representation of family and loved ones? I am totally at a loss here. I know you can never actually replace them. I don't have pics of his family, except one he gave me of his child. Maybe I could have that picture turned into a sketch and send it to him? Company of family/loved ones-Do you talk to his family? If so ask them for photos or see if you could get most of them to go and get pictures done at WalMart or some other place. If you don't talk to them the sketch of his child would be great or you could get it copied and turn it into an ornament.

I want to use a line from the bible to include in a Christmas card since my friend is very religious and I'm trying to relate my message about why I'm giving him the gift that I'm giving to him. The gift relates to hopes and wishes and I want to use a phrase from the bible that talks about God hoping that we would fulfill our dreams. (something like that)
"Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart." [Psalms 37:4]
this verse means that God directs our desires and gives us the dreams to dream too
