Old Christmas Cards

I receive several Christmas cards each year, and I would like to find a clever, crafty way to recycle them. I remember seeing a box sewen together with yarn, and old cards, years ago. Does anyone have the directions for this, or any other ideas to recycle old cards?

Ah, being the queen of recycle, I save all of my Christmas cards to reuse them the next year. I always try to get a couple more uses out of things before I recycle or throw them out. I save the handled bags from boutique and department stores throughout the year. Then I cut the front off the the cards to stick over the store logo with double sided tape or stick glue and use the bags to deliver bags of goodies during the holidays to neighbors, the post man, trash people, etc. They can also be used over the store names on shirt and gift boxes from stores, too, and it saves you from wrapping the gift. I just add a ribbon.

Country Christmas

my mom died in june and i have all the old christmas cards she had sent me over the years. i heard there was a way to make a bell out of old cards, does anyone know how to do this? or i would be interested in making anything else with them except place mats or putting into frames to hang on wall as my wall space is limited. any and all help will be lovingly appreciated. thanking you in advance. fran

Christmas Bell
Take construction paper and fold it in half lenghtwise. Cut out a shape that looks like half a bell. Repeat this step 2 more times. Take all 3 bells and glue them together at the fold. Open them all up. You can take some thread and have it go through it, it will make an excellent decoration to hang.

I work at a large corporation and consequently my boss has received a large volume of Business Christmas cards. They are such a waste! We have a recycling effort at work but I wondered whether there were any particular groups that collect old Xmas cards for charity?

I have a lot of old X-mas cards sent to me every year, they are so beautiful I hate to just throw them away espessially since those people took the time to send them, a rare thing these days... But I need some cute ideas for crafts. I already know about the oranaments, picture frames, gift tags, and gift wrap, thanks to google. I need more ideas. Please Help Me.

Some horse riders sew their ribbons and rosettes won from horse shows onto quilts and cushion covers, and they look FANTASTIC. I know cardboard/paper from Christmas cards isn't quite the same or as flexible to use as ribbon, but perhaps you could think along those lines? I found a great website a few years ago, of a teenage girl who custom made some excellent quilts etc using people's ribbons. Wish I could remember the address! =\ It could have possibly been a great source of inspiration

You know how family gives you christmas, birthday, valentins, and other cards. Do you keep them are do you throw them a way. If you keep them why do you?
If you throw them a way why?
What should I do with the one I have?

I keep my cards. Usually my family writes me messages on them, so they aren't just whatever hallmark thinks. It's good to have them, once a person dies. My mother has cards from her first Birthday, and one of them is from one of her cousins who died really young and really unfortunately. The card makes her happy. Reading cards from my now deceased Grandmother and Grandfather give me happy memories. It's like pictures, but I think better.
And so messages can make you feel better even now. I have a sister whom I've never seen very much. She's always lived in Alabama with her mother, while I live in Ohio with my mother and father. she syas she's sorry she doesn't see me enough and that she'll try harder and that she loves me no matter that. So that makes me feel really nice.
