I'll send nativity scene cards to ppl that I know are Christians. However, for the "question mark" ppl, I am hesitant to send "Happy Holidays" cards bc they might think that I don't celebrate Christmas (I do). OTOH, if I send a "Merry Christmas" card (even with a secular scene like a snowman, they might get bent out of shape. Your thoughts? BTW, you'd be surprised by the huge numbers of ppl in bigger cities who don't celebrate Christmas. In the midwest/southern smaller towns, everyone celebrates Christmas.
Send a card with a winter scene depicted on the front and wish them "happy holidays". That covers all of them, not just Christmas. And even if they don't celebrate anything at all, that doesn't mean that you can't wish them good tidings.

Yes, I do-- to relatives and other ppl who are Christians (including the "cultural Christians"-- not particularly religious, but they identify with Christianity). I send snow man and Happy Holidays cards to ppl who are Jewish, Buddhists, etc.

We don't see any cards now with nativity scenes, only winter scenes and teddies. What have teddies got to do with Christmas?
Merry Christmas. Have a good one. Teddy bears are 'cute' so they put 'em on. But Jesus is what Christmas is all about.

I like receiving Christmas cards that are evocative and show true artistry from whoever designed them. I don't mind if it is a nativity scene, kings on camels, fat robins, angels or choirboys throwing snowballs, a partridge in a pear tree, a Hamish farm, a Kentish oast or a Cornish harbour watercolour, a reproduction of a great master, or a photograph of a beautiful landscape. In fact it is the mix of different subjects that gives me pleasure as it reflects the personalities of the senders. I loathe the present trend that has just one beribboned parcel stuck on, or four identical silhouettes on a plain background that make the whole thing dull, unpoetic, joyless and meaningless. Although I must admit I received one "artless" card last year which had just a plain shiny dark blue background with a small cut glass stone sparkling like a star at the top and that was both meaningful and very striking in its simplicity. Another that made a real impression was a stunning photograph of a single snowdrop in the snow.
Those that take pride of place on the mantlepiece are those that have been painted and decorated by my young grand-children. They may be garish with a wonky Santa and tons of glitter and cotton wool, but they have been made with love.
I used to send out the beautiful cards designed by Janet and Anne Grahame-Johnstone, published by Royle, which were so evocative and magical but sadly they are no longer sold. Now I buy several designs and choose one that I know will mean something special to the person who receives it and corresponds to their taste, personality and beliefs.
We can't give a present to everyone, but a carefully chosen Christmas card means "This is my present to you. I hope it gives you pleasure and tells you that you are still in my thoughts".
You hear reports of councils not wanting to offend Muslims so they stop displaying Christmas decorations. In my suburb they haven't done it and they have a nativity scene and Santa and all and none of the Muslims I know find it offensive. In fact one of my friends when I ask her said she found it insulting they would not put up Christmas decorations because to her it was like they were saying Muslims were intolerant and would not accept the sight of other religions. I even have another Muslim friend who gives me a Christmas card every year (though I'm not Christian), she's an art student and draws it all herself. Maybe it's the crowd I hang with but are there Muslims who find public displays of Christmas offensive?
lets start decoration war lol
i mean they can make their Christmas as they want and we can make ours for the hijry year and hashourah (sunni celebrate for the passing of prophet moses) so we can show them our concept of islamic celebration in artistic way

Nativity Scene
Nativity Scene
Birth of Jesus
A nativity scene takes its inspiration from the accounts of the birth of Jesus in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. Luke’s narrative describes an angel announcing the birth of Jesus to shepherds who then visit the humble site where Jesus is found in a manger. Matthew’s narrative tells of Magi who follow a star to the place where Jesus dwells, and indicates that the Magi found Jesus around two years after his birth rather than on the exact day. Matthew’s account does not mention the angels and shepherds, while Luke’s narrative is silent on the Magi and the star. With no basis in scripture, however, three dimensional nativity scenes (whether static or living) usually bring the shepherds and the angels of Luke together at the manger with Matthew’s Magi and the star. Further, and without scriptural basis, the ox and the ass are present at the manger as well as other animals such as sheep, goats, and camels.
