I plan to send either Christmas or New Year cards out this year, and I would like to do something a bit different. I'd love to read about what you do, or ideas from greeting cards/letters/notes that you have received. Perhaps you have memories of how it was done by your parents or grandparents? I have a gorgeous Happy New Year card that my grandmother received in 1926, and used it as inspiration for my holiday greeting cards a few years ago.

i think that a new years cards would be great. my family were thinking instead if a christmas pictures we would do a new years theme picture instead. something different. my great and grand parents used to make ornaments with the old cards. they were awesome

I've bought heavyweight card stock unruled 4x6 index cards to save on postage, using sea sponges with acrylics and black razor-tip or extra-fine pens for design. The stock can be bought from art supply stores, the acrylics are under a dollar at Walmart, and the pens are around two dollars each, and come in colors.

At my work we send out Christmas Cards to a lot of our clients. Mostly clients that come in often, and our favorite clients. One of my favorite clients is Jewish. I wanted to send him a holiday greeting, but I didn't know what would be appropriate. Do you think he would be offended if we sent him a card that just read "Happy Holidays?" I just want to let him know that we are thinking about him during the holiday season.

Sounds fine - you've recognised his faith and just wish him seasonal greetings. Don't see there is anything to get offended by. Alternatively find a Hannukah card and send it tomorrow (Hannukah started yesterday I think)
