The company I work for wastes reams of card each year at Christmas and the Directors receive similar amounts from their clients. Its about time that they start to look for an environmental alternative. Any suggestions would be most welcome. This is something I am sure millions of others are passionate about.
There are companies who supply recycled cards, however the best I have seen is http://www.eco2greetings.com
They plant trees with their Business E Cards so not only save papaer but replenish the environment as well. Quite a snazzy marketing ploy really.

I like to leave my mom, who passed away last year, little gifts at her head stone. Since I leave things for Christmas, her birthday, and mothers day I realized how much stuff could accumulate. I have brought balloons in the past and flowers(commercial) but I don't think these things are very eco-friendly. Not to mention greeting cards I leave as well. I live in the north so I can't bring fresh flowers very often I don't think commercial are the best or truly genuine. I also thought about planting something but I really like to bring something new at these different holidays. Any unique eco-friendly suggestions would be great!!!!
We also leave gifts at Dad's grave site several times a year; most of which are free of cost and eco friendly.
I really enjoy making things of paper mache which is a very eco friendly container ~ from paper mache, you can create shamrocks, vases, hearts, and all sorts of things suitable for graveside decorations. One good rain, and the container begins to compost :).
I also dry flowers, such as yarrow, lavender, and baby's breathe to use when fresh flowers aren't available from my yard.
During Christmas, we make wreaths from yew boughs, pine cones, and cinnamon sticks. For Halloween, I make a wreath of dried grape vines decorated with miniature pumpkins.
Have you ever woven with grass? I use a variety of grass we call "Mormon grass" to weave small baskets and make reed dolls ~ not unlike cornhusk dolls.
Even cockleburrs can be stuck together to create a cute little basket that can be filled with sprigs of evergreens and berries.
If you don't have a large yard with an assortment of plant life, you can certainly take a stroll through a public park and pick up twigs, acorns, dried leaves and other "found" items. Once you put your mind to it, you'll discover that all sorts of wonderful things can be crafted from nature.
I was thinking of going green this Christmas and buying enviro friendly gifts for family and friends. I'm also purchasing gifts via charities and NGOs, but I want to give eco products too.
I was thinking carbon offsetting gift cards -- I pay for their CO2 contributions and allow them to go carbon neutral on a small car/pet/daily activity.
Any other suggestions?
(I live in Australia, so local products and organisations would be best)

I'm talking about greeting cards made from organic paper with flower seeds embedded in it, so that instead of throwing them away, you can bury them and watch them grow into flowers.
I've checked out websites, but I need some more info from common people. I would appreciate any answers. Here are the Qs:
- Have you (or Would you) buy it?
- If you have (or would), what is/was it for? Personal needs (for family or friends) or company needs?
- And for what occasions? Like wedding greetings, Birthday, Valentine's Day, Christmas, or can it be used as wedding thank you gifts for the guests?
- Would these cards be more suitable for kids, teens, adults, or perhaps older people?
- Do you think using plantable cards classify as "green" (eco-friendly) attitude?
- Any other info you'd like to add?
Thank you so much! This is very urgent.

How To: Be Stylishly Eco-friendly — Holiday Cards, Christmas Cards ...
Being eco-friendly isn’t as hard as it may seem. You don’t have to save the rainforest to help the cause, just take advantage of all of the eco-friendly items around and help make them part of your lifestyle. One way is to accessorize in an earth-friendly way. Look for recycled and vintage jewelry, normally these pieces are higher craftsmanship and last longer than your typical piece. Another tip is to opt for pearls, they are farmed using aquaculture, a less damaging technique than land mining. Also, support small producers and buy your jewelry from local artisans, not only will your piece be one of a kind, but you’ll be working towards a more sustainable world at the same time.
