China and Japan don't celebrate Christmas. They dont have christmas trees. I had a co-worker who came over to the USA from China, Christmas was new to her. They celebrate New Years kinna like our Christmas, with sweets and gifts...

I do a little bit of both. I go out and buy Christmas decorations that are a little bit fun to add to my collection. I think its fun to have the old decorations from last year because I like finding new ways to put them up.

I have a 20 month old girl who keeps trying to pull the christmas tree apart and ive heard its bad luck to take down the christmas decorations and tree before the 6th of Jan is this true?

Me mum or Gram would take down early under the circumstances.
Mum usually did right after Christmas, both Grans on New Year's day.
Others on or after 12th night.
Under the circumstances, I don't think there is harm in breaking traditions.

Ours are usually up until January 2nd or 3rd - sometimes later - but always down on or before January 5th which is the 12th day of Christmas.

We put up a real tree in mid December and see that it is well watered. We put up some other decorations which are mostly of a religious nature, and not too many of them.

When do you take down your tree and other decorations?

January 5th, the day after the last day of my current festival. :) (Obviously mine is not a Christmas tree.)
