Don't jump to conclusions. Maybe they are using the word in the Christmassy old-fashioned sense of meaning a married woman. Although it is now used only in the abbreviated form of Mrs., mistress was a perfectly respectable word in Victorian or Edwardian times, which are often evoked by Dickensian Christmas decorations and lore. Many a husband still calls his wife the mistress of his heart.

what credit card company is the fastest to approve me before the holidays are over? I would like to use my credit card for my christmas shopping.
Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT go get a credit card to buy people gifts for Christmas! You WILL regret it...If you can't pay for it now, you won't be able to pay for it much better later.... If you friends/family do not understand that you can not afford fancy gifts, then shame on them.... Buy the people who are most important to you something meaningful that you can pay for now, or make something from the heart. Going into debt for Christmas gifts really is a bad idea. I received an American Express gift card for Christmas, and the packaging says that I can shop online using it. However, websites ask for a name and address when I try to use it. I tried registering the card through American Express's website, but they don't allow people to register gift cards, just credit cards. Does anyone know how to use this type of card to shop online? When they ask for a name and address, it doesn't matter. Put yours and your address. As long as they get their money you're good to go.

If people are front-loading their shopping, then a rise in Black Friday spending wouldn't necessarily indicate a healthier retail environment. This week my mom, friends and I headed to downtown Middleborough to do some Christmas Shopping. I like to shop in the stores that are wheelchair accessible in my hometown because I know their businesses are hurting due to the bad economy and competition from the larger chain stores. I also appreciate the more personal and friendly service they offer.
Our first stop was at Maria’s Card & Gift Shop. I wanted to look for a special Hallmark Christmas card for my dad, brother, mom, and Aunt and feel nothing says it better than a Hallmark greeting card :-)
Inside is spacious with plenty of room to wheel my chair between all the displays; all the aisles are plenty wide enough for my chair; all items are within my view while seated in my chair. After finding the perfect Christmas cards, I saw some collectible Christmas ornaments I chose to buy as gifts for some of my friends. I also picked a great ornament for my own Christmas tree.
