hi, i go to a catholic school and my art homework is to design a christmas card based on st catherine of sienna. anyone got any ideas, as i have no idea how she is even related to christmas?!

No worries about the category - you got it right! But - I have to say why did they ask you to do Catherine of Siena? I've never ever seen her on a Chrissy card. However, she has, of course, appeared in hundreds of religious paintings. Why not look at illustrations of her, copy her pose, and add her to a group of people watching the Nativity (the classic Stable scene)? Or you could take her wheel and put tiny Nativity scenes between the spokes.

PC has gone too far. In response to someone above me, you asked should you send a religious card to someone you know is not into religion? My answer is yes. If you are a friend, you should respect that I am religious, I'm not filling the inside of the card with a statement saying you're going to hell or anything like that. I'm just saying Merry Christmas in a way that shows who I am. I'm not forcing the issue on you or anyone else. Friends know that about each other, however in Bush's case, yeah he might actually be forcing the issue...lol

Do you agree with religious or non religious christmas cards? And why?
I am not xian so I only send out secular cards. For me, the holiday is a time to share with family and have fun but it's more the 'Santa Claus' holiday. I don't recognize it as the birth of a mythological figure to be revered.
If people send me religious cards it doesn't bother me though, as I know many people hold the belief that the holiday celebrates the birth of a religious figure.
Either way is harmless and I enjoy the holiday season regardless. Those that desire to celebrate it in a religious way can do so, and those that don't have that option also. ☺

Valentines Day is a special day observed on 14th February every year that celebrates love and affection. On this day people send greetings cards called valentines to their sweethearts, friends and even members of their families. Many valentine cards have humorous pictures while others contain romantic verses. Many cards have common phrase as, Be my valentine.
Valentines Day is associated with St. Valentine, believed to be two martyrs of the early Christian Church. However, very little is known about these two martyrs except the fact that the Roman history of martyrs mentions about two saints named Valentine who were martyred on 14th February. Scholars have found it quite difficult in finding the authenticity of the legends associated with St. Valentine.
High court won't hear post office-church case
Manchester, Conn. (AP) – The U.S. Supreme Court has decided against hearing the case of a church-run store in Connecticut that was ordered to remove religious displays from an area of the shop that offers postal services.
The high court’s decision on Monday let stand a ruling made last August by the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in the case of Sincerely Yours Inc., a Manchester store with a U.S. Postal Service contract operated by the Full Gospel Interdenominational Church.
The Circuit Court ruled that Sincerely Yours must remove religious materials from the postal service area.
The legal case began in 2003 when Manchester resident Bertram Cooper filed a lawsuit saying the church’s displays of religious materials violated a constitutional ban against government endorsement of religion.
