One tree would make about 55,000 Christmas cards, one card would requie 0.000018 of a tree. 34,420 trees needed to make the Christmas cards sent in the US each year.

• Most paper is made of pine
• A typical pine tree has a mass of about 2000kg
• Two thirds of the mass is cellulose, one third is water
• Therefore 1333kg of timber per pine tree
• Approx half the timber is lingrin, knots etc
• So from a 2000kg tree, 667kg is pulped
• Standard paper weighs 80g/m²
• 667kg would produce 8,333 m² of regular paper
• Standard US size of a sheet of paper is 279 x 216mm
• 1m² of paper would produce 16.594 sheets of paper
• 8,333 x 16.594 ≈ 138,000 sheets of paper per tree
• Assume Christmas card is printed on 200gsm paper
• Assume a Christmas card, folded flat, is a bit smaller than a standard sheet of paper

• 1.9 billion cards sent each year in the US
• 1,900,000,000 / 55,200 ≈ 34,520

Would it be protected enough? Has anyone tried this?

You can send it like that just, make sure you write 'Hand Cancel" on it like on the front and back. To be positive it does not go through the machine take it to the Post Office and hand it to the clerk. They can stamp "Fragile" on it. Mention that you want it hand canceled. I 'm a mailman.....HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! ;)

I have found some a couple of years ago, but I am looking for more now. Basically what this is, is letter size heavy weight paper, with a Christmas or Holiday Scene printed on one half of one side. Then the paper is lightly scored in the middle for easy folding.

The allows me to place the card (as a full sheet of paper) in my printer and print my own Christmas message on the "back side" of the card. This backside would turn out to be the inside of the card when folded properly. Also when folded in half properly, the holiday scene is on the front, thereby giving me a Christmas card to send out.

I really hope you can help.
Several have suggested I check places out. I have looked, but maybe I am searching for the wrong thing on those websites. Please also tell me the name of the item for which to search. And, remember, I want a professional picture on half the card, the card scored, and then left blank for me to print my message on my printer.

I found some at Tuesday Morning's a few years ago, so I know they have to be available, but maybe just am using the wrong words to search these out. I do not want 'imprinted' cards.
