Annual downtown Pascagoula holiday event jump-starts area celebrations

The event featured carolers, rides in carriages, model trains and fire trucks, classic car displays, a Santa village and more lined up and down Delmas Avenue and encompassing several surrounding businesses.

"We even have the Pascagoula High School band playing on different street corners, dressed all in their blues," Davis said.

New this year was a chance to support the troops by signing a huge Christmas card or dropping a personal letter in the "salute our troops mail box," as well as a personnel mailbox just for Santa Claus.

"We really want to do this for the troops, because there are a lot of men and women being deployed now right here at Christmas," Davis said. "We've heard that there are many soldiers who get no mail at all, and we wanted to help change that and do something special."
