I'm talking about 150 co-workers here. I usually do paper cards and put them in everyone's boxes, but this year I just don't feel like it. Would it be in poor taste just this one year to send everyone a card via e-mail?
Yes it would. If you don't feel like doing the original, don't do any at all.

Does anyone know web addresses of stationery (or otherwise) companies who sell boxed Christmas cards online? Kind of looking for something more unique than the same-old that they have in the stores here.
This site shows 333 different Christmas cards, sold by the box. These aren't mixed cards though, each box only contains one design. If you click on a design, the writing above shows you the size, number of cards and inside message.
Happy hunting.

How do you decide if an acquaintance deserves a card? For example, I take my son for homework help to a centre. I gave a small gift to his tutor. One secretary is very close to me. I gave her a card and homemade goodies. There are a few other people who have occasionally helped him. Can I give a common card for the entire office and a box of cookies to share? I would rather feel slightly awkward after giving an unsolicited gift than make someone feel ignored.
There are a lot of etiquette questions in here that I wouldn't think anyone would consider to be an issue or controversial. I've taken a bunch of college courses that deal with cultural and cross cultural norms. If there is one thing I have learned, it's that the majority of Americans are REALLY RELAXED about their norms.
If you know 1 or 2 people well, then sure, knock yourself out, get them cards or a fruit basket or whatever is within budget and practicality. The rest of the people who maybe see you dip in every now and then but don't actually know you, who cares?
This might be complicated if you were considering getting these people actual gifts... but a card... come on. You gotta understand, that even if you did get everyone in the office a card, the people who don't know you well will read it then just throw it out as soon as you leave. The people you know on the other hand will read it, smile, keep it on their desk until it gets buried in a pile of paperwork sometime mid-January, then throw it out.
You're worrying about it way too much. Even if someone was an itsy- bitsy bit offed that they didn't get a Christmas card, guaranteed they'll forget by New Years anyways once they have a drunken night of debauchery. It's Christmas break so I doubt you'll be seeing these people anytime before New Years anyways which means you can avoid any potential glares, so my opinion:
Save the money, save the time, save the trip, and don't bother getting everyone cards. It's not a big deal at all.

There may be something of use here.
Can I just put it in a mail box or do I need to take it to the Post Office?
It depends on the weight. Under half an ounce, international postage is 94 cents. If you have a kitchen scale, weigh the card and envelope, then go to the USPS website to print your own stamp. You can then put it in a mailbox.
