Christmas Birthday Cards

No Birthday Cards, no Christmas cards, for her father, no gifts, but always calls when it is near her birthday, or children's birthdays, or near christmas? Never visits, but yet expects her father to drive the distance to visit her. Never discloses much about her life to her father, but wants to know everything about his. It always appears to be a one way street in her direction...tell me what your thoughts are please?

she could be selfish or self-involved. some people are.

she could have little respect for her father, or some other issue with him, so doesn't tell him anything, yet expects him to come though for HER anyway.

it's an issue between the father and daughter, so i'd stay out of it... i was married to someone who had adult kids -- and i minded my own business. it works out better that way.

How long do you keep them after you receive a card for like your Birthday or Christmas? Do you keep them for a few weeks then throw them away? Or longer? Or are there some people that keep them forever?

it depends on how sentimental they are to you. some you throw away, some you keep forever.

Thing is when i was younger i used to get over a hundred christmas cards each year and somewhere along the lines some have been thrown away and others I've still got.

So should i just chuck the ones I've still got or keep them.

The other thing is due to my own OCD I feel as if i should have them all or none.

What do you do?

Personally, I kept the cards that made a difference to me. Such as: the last card my Grandma gave me for my birthday before she passed. All of my Son's First Birthday Cards to add into his scrapbook. My first Mother's Day card, only the cards with sentimental meaning. As for your OCD, Just a suggestion, I know it may be difficult but leave the cards that dont really matter on a counter with a note for your husband/roomate/kid to find that asks them to throw away for you. I know with the OCD after their in the trash you wont want to touch them anymore anyway! : )

i've saved almost every single christmas and birthday card that i've ever gotten.
i have them packed away in a box, but are kind of a nuisance and i want to do something with them, but not throw them out?

does anyone have any creative ideas as to what i can do with them?

Some of the things they have listed are really cute. I really liked the idea of making the cards into coasters to sit your drinks on. That way you could change it up with the seasons or decor.

i am interested in studying the Bible with the JWs. but the holiday bit really turns me off. pagan days are over, being so separate is uncomfortable, and no women in the weekly pulpit is a turn off as well. now i hear about shunning over birthday and christmas cards and how some are secretly celebrating the holidays. seems more than rather oppressive. what gives?

Being a former JW I will tell you. stay away, they are a cult. They will have you doung nothing but quoting and reading scripture. and every time you decide to use some i dunno, cognitive thinking, then suddenly you are an apostate heretic. and they always speak of Armageddon...it's always VERY soon. but they never get it right.

I could have been a Doctor or A Lawyer today but NNNOOOOOOOOOOOO "why bother? Armageddon is around the corner and we don't need lawyers and doctors in THE WORLD ORDER"
