My daughter is in Afghanistan. I want to send many Christmas cards to the Soldiers so they can have something to send back to their families to wish them a Merry Christmas. However, my brother told me to make sure the cards did not refer to Christ at all. That it was NOT allowed. Huh? o.O Am I wrong to send cards with a Christian message? Will the soldiers be in more trouble because of this? Don't the Soldiers pray in battle? Don't they have Chaplains? Don't we know that Jesus is the reason for the season? Plus, isn't this what we are fighting for? Our freedom and our right to worship? Someone please help with this. It's important. Thank you so much for all answers and if my brother's right, I will abide by the rules and send, *Happy Holiday/Season's Greetings* cards instead :)
Yes, and they even are allowed Christian Bibles. Members may wear a Cross or Rosary.
The biggest restriction is on pork and alcohol.
It is not like the Christmas cards will go through the Afghan mail system...they will go through the US Post Office then the Army Post Office (APO).
If you are a Christian you can send her a Christian, Christmas card....or a secular holiday card...what ever you prefer.
Note: I believe in Christ and loved getting Christmas cards when I was in the Navy. If that is your belief system then you may...the military has not put any rules forbidding them.

I'd like to send seasonal cards on behalf of my husband's small business. He has quite a few Jewish clients and associates that he does business with. In my background and tradition it is polite to issue a Christmas card, or a holiday card which says Season's Greetings.
Should I send Chanukah cards to the Jewish clients? Would that be appreciated? Or should I just send "holiday" cards and leave it at that? Or should I send nothing at all?
Chanukkah cards would be very much appreciated.
It would show your Jewish customers that you were thinking of them.
A holiday card, on the other hand, is rather generic.
This is why a Chanukkah card would make a great impression!!
Have a Merry Christmas, and thank you for sharing:)
Front of the cards feature a little kid putting up a nativity set
Inside of the cards say, "....the only thing that really matters is Jesus. Christmas Blessings." "Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent." John 17:3 NIV

.. decent Yule cards?....
I don't send christmas cards to anybody as I'm not a christian but I do like sending cards at this time of the year.... just not those with christmas greetings as that isn't my belief....
Bit of an advert really but I always get mine from Hedingham fair... and they always arrive quickly....within 5 days generally.... if any USA pagans have problems getting hold of decent seasonal cards they also do ship to USA but obviously will charge shipping (approx 20% of order price I think?...)...
The link is here http://www.hedinghamfair.co.uk/shopping. htm
Maybe other UK pagans can recommend other sites or places to buy cards?...
Thanks, I would love to make my own but I work away a lot & unfortunately at the moment I don't have time to make 50+ cards, although I always do this for birthdays etc.
There are a lot of good sites on the internet
How about homemade cards..?
Thanks
Those engaged in the "war on Christmas" often complain about cards carrying the words "Seasons Greetings" and so on. How do you deal with a card bearing those words but with a nativity scene on the picture?
I think the "War on Christmas" stuff is getting old - Cards with such wording have been around since cards first began. They are not something new. People - including Christians - have been using Happy Holidays, Seasons Greetings and other words besides "Happy Christmas" for ages. Why has it suddenly become an issue?
It seems to me that the only ones who are not in the Christmas spirit are the ones complaining about receiving the message "Seasons Greetings", not the ones delivering it.
it doesnt bother me....theres no war....always glad to hear from friends..

Christmas Cards – Five Christmas Card Subjects That Show You Care
Although email and electronic ecards tend to be the communication method popular today, the sending of Christmas cards has boomed since they were first commissioned in 1843 by Sir Henry Cole in London.
Those first cards were illustrated by John Callcott Horsley with a picture of a family drinking wine and sold for a penny each . Although his design choice was criticized for promoting the ‘moral corruption’ of children, Cole’s idea was the start of one of the most popular and important holiday traditions. It was later to be followed by Louis Prang in 1875 who became the first printer to offer commercial Christmas cards in the United States.
