Kid Birthday Party

I have a 2 month old and a 2 year old and friends with kids age 6 month to 5 years though almost none age 2 exactly. Should I throw a kid party for my son's second birthday or stick to a small adult gathering? I'm eager to do a kid party but I know he won't even remember it. He likes other kids but seems to like attention from adults even more.

When my daughter turned two, she enjoyed her party more as compared to her first birthday. I guess this is because she was more aware of the people around her. I think birthdays should be celebrated regardless of age because it only happens once. Besides, you can capture the memories through pictures and you can proudly show it to your child later on. I really suggest that you have a kiddie party. It'll be too much fun! Good luck!

My son has never really liked cake and ice cream but I never know what to make for his birthday to make it still seem like a birthday party.I've tried a peanut butter bar cake and Jello molds and those didn't really work either.
I should also mention that he doesn't like cookies, brownies, popsicles or anythingof a dessert nature really...

What I would do is make the cake and ice cream anyway, he doesn't have to eat it, but he can still blow out his candles and everyone that likes it can have it, but also find something that's special to him that you can have that day like popsicles or something, ask him! Maybe he wants pizza?? who knows!

My son just started preschool and the first week he get a b day invite. Is it normal to go to someone's birthday party when I dont know the child, or the parents?

Yep, completelly normal. The child probably wanted to invite all his new friends. I am hoping to do the same for my son's birthday, but that isn't until March so it will be a while. Just think of it as a good opportunity to meet other parents of kids in your child's class and a great way for your child to see his friends outside of school.

There's a Kangaroo Bob's off of Highway 20.
Are they girls? There's a little girl salon over by the new Barnes and Noble off exit 13.

There's also a really cute Gelato store next to the Barnes and Noble and the new AMC movie theater on 13--that'd be cute. Movie and ice cream.
Central Park off of exit 17 would be fun. You could get one of those picnic tables, bring some games, some balls, and grill out.

What is a normal number of children to have for a child's birthday party? 4 for the younger ones, 8-12 for the grade school aged ones? What do your kids have?

My mom's rule was, whatever age you're turning, that's how many friends you can invite. 6th birthday = 6 friends; 12th birthday = 12 friends.

That worked out fine for me, but I haven't applied that rule to my own kids. My daughter has a lot of friends and is always worried about hurting someone's feelings if she doesn't invite them. So she's always had HUGE parties. The drawback (besides the expense) is that she always got way too many gifts - mostly silly things that she didn't want or need. So from age 10 on, she started putting on the invitation, "Instead of a gift, please bring a donation for the animal shelter (or food bank or homeless shelter or whatever she picked that year). Last year for her 14th birthday party (a combination party with a friend) there were 200 guests and they raised over $3000 for the Humane Society.
