10th birthday RSVP question?

If my child gets a birthday invitation card from a friend at school, for a 10th birthday party, and it has the usual info including a phone number for RSVP, what is the preferred way of RSVP a Yes reply.

1. My child tell friend YES (at school)
2. I call the number, speak to a parent,
3. My child calls friend in the evening

We don't meet them socially. I would prefer to call parent and say Yes myself, but wondering if at 10 years old, children are expected to handle the RSVPs themselves. I think if my child tells the friend Yes at school, that child might forget to tell her parents...

Anyway, so basically, wondering what is the accepted mode of RSVP for 10th b'day invitations.

I would call if I did not know the parent. If it is a close friend of my child and I know the parent, I would have my child call his/her friend.

help me with great ideas for invitation cards for my daughter's 6th birthday also a poem for the wordings.?

the party is going to be at home and for not more than 10 children.
The theme of the party is "A Balloon". I plan to invite about 10 children. Suggestions are welcome

First off, if it's only going to be 10 kids...I saw this on an episode of King of the Hill the other day. Sounds a little pricey, but if you do it right, it doesn't have to be and will turn out to be a fabulous surprise! Send each of the kids a small, gift wrapped box (or better yet, deliver them yourself) with a helium balloon inside attached to the card by string, so when they open the box, the balloon floats up with their invitation at the bottom of the string.

As for a part that wasn't included in that TV show episode, but rather more of what we did as a class in elementary school, have the back of the card made into a little tear-off post card with a postage stamp and your address or P.O. Box (more recommended) on it. The concept of this is to have the invited child write their first name (and last initial if necessary) on the postcard, reattach it to the balloon, and set it free in their own yard.

When people find these postcards in their backyards completely postmarked, they will possibly send them back to the P.O. Box sent from. Just ask on the card for their approximate area of receiving them, as in basic main cross streets, and there could be a small competition as to whose balloon went the furthest to be determined after the party itself has ended! Talk about memories that all of her little girl (and/or boy) friends will be talking about for the rest of their lives!

My idea for a poem:

One daughter,
Two parents,
Three cheers...
Four you coming!
Five invites times two
for a girl who turns Six
Lucky Seven good luck wishes,
Eight bikes parked in front of the house,
Nine sighs and a single giggle as the presents are opened
With all 10 of her good friends joining in this celebration!

The card on the balloon thing was from the TV show...the poem and the balloon lift off were of my own imagination. Hope you liked it and, above all, I hope your daughter has a fantastic birthday!

Are save the date cards appropriate for child birthday parties?

Is is appropriate to send parents Save the Date cards of my child's birthday party? Her birthday falls in the summer when school is out, July to be exact. I just wanted to send a simple save the date card as a reminder of the upcoming party. I do intend to mail more formal invitations 2 weeks prior to the party. Oh, she'll be 9 years old.

I think it's a great idea. Kids with summer birthdays always get the short end of the stick, if only because it's impossible to reach many of the families. I can't imagine anyone taking offense at this.

It's unique. It's different. You're thinking outside the box. Good on ya.

What is a creative idea for making your own 1st Birthday Invitations for you child?

Where can you buy just plain cards to put your own picture in? I just want to do something different than the normal 1st b'day girl theme this time?? Thanks.

This is what I did for my daughter's 1st b-day. I staged a cute picture of her. She had on her cute birthday dress and balloons, streamers, horns, confetti surrounded her...oh and she had on a party hat and was trying to blow the party horn. Then I printed the invitation on Pink card stock. --take a full sheet (8 1/2 x 11) , print the invitation on half of the sheet and fold it over. -- On the front of the pink card I attached the cute photo. Everyone loved it! My guest were able to take the picture off the invitation and have it as a keepsake!

  • The History of Birthday Parties

We all like to be the centre of attention, just for one day every year. Which is why so many of us, especially our kids or those who just like a particularly good excuse for a night out, have birthday parties to celebrate everything about us, inviting our very closest friends and family to enjoy our special day with us. Except, traditionally, new party toys or a night out might not be quite the reason birthday parties became so popular. Originally birthday parties were less about decadence and much more about perceived protection. Originating in Europe, the tradition of hosting celebrations on one's day of birth were initially aimed not at children, but instead at royalty and other important persons. This was back in more superstitious times when people were more keen to believe in the presence of evil spirits to explain phenomena that science has since explained away. It was believed that evil spirits were more attracted to people whose birthday it was and so people would gather to protect their monarchs, and later their friends and family too, f Kids birthday party means lot of fun and enjoyment as compared to adult party. You do not have to plan anything seriously yet you have to focus on the requirements and expectations of the age group of kids that are expected at the party. So, the first thing that you should do is to plan a theme for the kids birthday party that you are going to throw. Election day is not too far away. Before you know it, it will be the second Tuesday after the first Monday in November, and voters will be headed to the poll to take part in the democratic process. If you know somebody who has a birthday coming up around the time of election day, and who is interested in politics, why not throw them an election day-themed birthday party? Combining one of their passions with the celebration of their birthday will certainly give them a time to remember! rom harm. The gathered group would bring good thoughts and wishes in the belief this would keep them safe. Gifts were also brought to help too, starting the tradition of birthday presents, but even in more superstitious times it is hard to see how they thought this might keep their loved ones safe. Still, their apparent myopia has become our modern day gain, with us all now expecting and receiving numerous presents to keep us, if not safe, then at least rather happy. Cakes also pre-date modern birthday customs. In medieval times objects such as rings and coins were placed into a birthday cake, in the - again superstitious - belief that the finder would be brought luck or wealth or happiness. The tradition of birthday parties changed through time as people became more spiritually aware, and the start of the modern day birthday party can be traced back to Germany where they were repackaged especially for children and called kinderfeste. Here, candles signifying the child's age would be lit and left burning all day. From here the significance of birthday parties evolved into what we know today. The significance is still firmly aimed towards the young, with children's toys being given as presents and cakes prepared with candles, all harking back to the earlier traditions. We may have added a few superficial extras such as party games and party toys, but the core elements remain the same. Traditions vary of course all over the world. In many African nations, single birthdays are not revered as special days at all, while in other cultures it is normal for the birthday boy or girl to be the one handing out presents or chocolates. Closer to home, Danish traditions insist that children's toys be placed directly around the bed so they can be enjoyed immediately upon waking. But when it comes to our own traditions, we owe a lot more to superstition than self-indulgence.
