Birthday Cards Verses

I could sit all day churning out that kind of verse.
Or do they now have a computer programme that does it for them?
I've just advised some-one to explore whether there is any money in it, and now wonder if I've given them a bum steer
(can I say bum steer on answers.yahoo?)

You can actually get a job in that area... I have been offered one before! There is money in it but I am not sure how much... But look at all of us, we sit around and write sappy lines all the time, what would be the difference except we'd be getting paid for it!

It has to be something to put in a 12 year old card and it had to do something with a dog that says on the front "Do I Smell Birthday Cake." I think it has to say something about cake.

i would like to get my verses published in cards ie birthday, clinton cards , clendars etc

You need to approach the publisher's agency. Do NOT give them your works, or samples of your works, until you copyright them! there is a way to do this! It's often referred to as a poor man's copyright! Do up your poems and verses and mail them to YOURSELF, via registered mail, and have them require a signature. This registers the date and time of publication or creation!! it's relatively inexpensive to do, and saves a nasty court battle later!!

Once you have a copy of the reciept, you can mark on the examples to give the publisher that they are, in fact, copy right protected!!!

Now, you can let them have samples to see if there is an interest in your work. Do this with several publishers.

but I only need to print it on half the sheet.
Is there a way of changing the settings for the printer on a PC?Thanks.

What settings would I need to set the font to?

If you want it to print on the right-hand half of the sheet only, go into File, Page Setup. In the Margins tab set the left-hand margin to 15cm. (You can adjust this alter if you need to). Change the layout to landscape (this may be in the same tab of your dialogue box or it may be in Paper depending on your software). Click OK.
Now you won't be able to see the whole page on your screen, so in View, click Zoom and select 75%. You will now see the whole page but shrunk.
Now you can play about with your font style and size, and alignment (if you align it centred it usually looks better for cards).
Once it looks OK, return the view to 100% size so you can be sure that's what you want, do a print preview, as soon as you're completely happy hit Print!

Hi, I have been looking at the cards on moonpig.com for my daughter's eighteenth birthday. I wanted to put a verse inside that really sounds good, it doesn't matter if it's funny but i can't think what to put.
Anybody got any ideas, would be most grateful. Thanks .xx

I really like this poem I read on a forum once from a poster called "Her Majesty" I used parts of it in my 13 year old niece's card ... I changed the mother and daughter to aunt and niece though.

You are a very pretty girl, at times you're very caring
It's then I really like you,our mother and daughter sharing
But other times you get me down, I'm sad to say that's true
At times I cry to sleep at night because of what you do
