How do I accommodate unexpected over capacity at a 1 year olds 1st birthday party?
Edible Butterflies - Blue & Green Assortment

I'm having a 1st birthday party for my son. It was supposed to be limited guest but the invite leaked out. Now I have about 10 extra people coming. Refreshments isn't a problem but space is. How do I adjust so that things go smoothly?

If people invited themselves you shouldn't worry about space. As long as there's room for people to stand it shouldn't be an issue. That might help move some people out of the party faster. My son had about 45 people at his first birthday party at my house and my house is not big at all. Most people stood the whole time, which was fine because there were plenty of little kids and babies to chase after. I'd say just worry about any older people (grandparents, etc.) having a place to sit and having chairs for the children to sit for cake/ice cream and the parents and the rest of the adults can fend for themselves. Just enjoy the birthday party and don't worry about everyone else. It's not to make the guests happy, it's to make the birthday boy happy.

1st birthday party etiquette invitations for out of state family not attending--should I send invitations?
Edible Butterflies - Blue & Yellow Assortment

I'm sending out invitations for my baby's 1st birthday party. Most of our family is out of state and I know they won't attend. Is it forward of me to send out at evite or mail them an invitation?

Maybe email them and say "Wish you could be here for Baby's First Birthday". You never know and depending on how close family they are, they might just turn up so best to include them. We flew from the island where we live to attend our baby grandson's birthday.

I want to through a really great 1st birthday party for my son. I know the party is mostly for the parents because he wont remember any of it. I would like to do everything myself does anyone know any websites that can help me stay organized and not forget anything? Also what are some good food choices?

Well i throw my son a party last year for his one bday.
We went to a party to keep adults busy and nothing to crowded for the children and we just had both sides of his family to make food. We had nachos rice some meat kind of like a cook out. We also had cake it was really nice and even though he wont remeber is he still had fun and was smiling like crazy. I also used all his formula can for to go containers. Save all the containers u can and decorate the outside and put candy in them really good money savers

Do you have ideas for a 1st birthday party with a balloon and ball theme?
Edible Butterflies - Pink & Purple Assortment

I am throwing a 1st birthday party for my son. He loves balls and balloons so I was thinking about using these two things as party themes. Does anyone have game, party favor, etc. ideas that fall under these two themes?

blow up balloons but dont tie off w/ solf felt marker write the invitation on then deflate put in envelope or paper cd covers write blow me up. so they read the invite off balloon.
w/ double stick tape attach crepe paper to circles to balloons, using diffrent sized punches from craft or scapbook store or use coins as out lines or make to make them look like sportsballs like (strips down middle to be basket ball, rectangles to look like soccer ball)
make your own bubbles;2/3 cup dish soap gallon water&2-3 tablespoons glycerin& have backyard contest.farthest &fastest flyer, longest lasting, biggest. everyone make a wish and tie it to a balloon or write a message and tie it to a balloon(heilium)a let go.
instead of cake use doughnut holes in tower w/ skewers<piped icing to secure and add dots either w/ or also dot sprinkles(krispy kreme make the best choc.cake iced one &cheaper in bulk) melon balls, meat balls,o nooles pasts salad, slamers w/ round bun/bread.
party favors their own bubbles w/ balloon and a name tag, made of paper cut in circle(cookie cutter or soup can traced)tied to it.decorate w/ paper lanterns and make balloon steamers in stead of or w/crepe
you can buy ballons and balls an miniture bubbles cheap @ orientaltrading.com,

Planning Your Baby's First Birthday: The Guest List

by Kim Neyer | More from this Blogger

This is a topic that I struggled with quite a bit when I was planning my son's first birthday. Basically there are two sides to the debate when it comes to the guest list for a first birthday party. On one hand, the party is a celebration for the parents as well as the baby's birthday, so of course the parents want to invite all of their friends. Chances are most of their friends also have small children, so they usually come along for the fun as well. A first birthday party has a lot of potential for a large number of guests. Some people think this is wonderful and relish in the opportunity to invite all of their friends and family over for a huge bash. On the other hand, there are those that believe that too many people can stress a baby out. They choose to invite the immediate family over for the party and opt out of the crowded affair in favor of a more intimate setting.
