1st Birthday Invitations

I am having my sons 1st birthday in a few weeks and about to send out invites. How can I make sure that parents know that they are invited to stay so that I do not end up babysitting a bunch of kids? Also how long should I schedule the party for...2 hours too long?

Mostly the first birthday isn't really for the baby, it is more for the parents and grandparents, friends and family. You child more then likely doesn't have friends to much at this age and the party is for you!! You get to feed your baby cake for the first time, you get to watch your toddler eat ice cream the first time, you get to open presents (Your toddler will try lol)
I sent out invitations but it was mainly to friends and family. I addressed the invitation to the adults. I sent an invite to my neighbors too which is my daughters friends (They have 2 little girls) and they came with they're baby's. I think that it's an unwritten rule that the first party is for the parents not the kids...
Now second party (I am planning that now) is ALL about the baby friends!!

Where can you buy just plain cards to put your own picture in? I just want to do something different than the normal 1st b'day girl theme this time?? Thanks.

This is what I did for my daughter's 1st b-day. I staged a cute picture of her. She had on her cute birthday dress and balloons, streamers, horns, confetti surrounded her...oh and she had on a party hat and was trying to blow the party horn. Then I printed the invitation on Pink card stock. --take a full sheet (8 1/2 x 11) , print the invitation on half of the sheet and fold it over. -- On the front of the pink card I attached the cute photo. Everyone loved it! My guest were able to take the picture off the invitation and have it as a keepsake!

I love it! Try to make the writing a little darker though, it was hard to read. You can always keep the invite in her baby book so she will always have it!

There is no polite way. Some people say "No Gifts, Your Presence Is All We Need" or something like that, but you shouldn't mention gifts in any way at all on an invitation.

I want to do each on with a different picture of him through out his first year on the front and then have it open like a regular card for all the information.

Do you know of any websites or templates on Microsoft Word 2007 that would help me with that?

Or any ideas?
