I am looking for all suggestions on how to get started on my own at home business designing birth announcements, invitations, business cards, etc. How do I start to advertise the business? What are the first steps to get up and going? Would you suggest outsourcing the printing and if so do you have any good online website suggestions to outsource to?

I want to start a very small business printing bridal shower invites, birth announcements, etc. What is the best printer (for the most affordable price) to use for printing high quality documents such as invitations on card stock, and also high quality photos?
If you are going to be printing high quality invites (such as from a home based business), the answer is, you actually need two (or possibly three!) printers.
The best suggestion is to get an HP colour ink jet printer for your colour printing. Make sure to get very good quality paper for your final customer products.
Next you will want an HP Laser (black only) for your text printing. The reason for this is that you don't want to waste your expensive colour ink on printing black (at $65+/cartridge you can go bankrupt very quickly this way). The LJ 1018 does very good quality for me, and is about the best priced.
Finally, get a cheapie dot matrix printer (about $5 - $7). This lets you experiment, printup your basic business documents and whatever else for very cheap ($2/ribbon cartridge). This printer can also use the cheap bulk paper.

Does anyone know a website where I can upload a photo to create a birth announcement that I can print online? I know these things exist but I can't find one that I can print at home. Just a free template online or something. If anyone has done this before, where did you go online?
