i want to find my birth parents and i was trying to look thru old birth announcements but the miami herald only goes back to 1982 and i was born in 1978. i want to search public records but they ask for names and social security numbers and i dont know that information in reguards to my birth parents. how would i go about finding the information i need?
i went to several libraries and they happened to be missing the particular film i needed. and no mom was an adult (24) i took the file from my parents without them knowing but it provided little information. mom was 24 from a middle class family was a waitress and grandfather died from emphesyma (not sure if spelled correctly) however i will check out cyndislist. thank you so much for your answers
contrary to your description... birth certificates and/or social security numbers are NOT considered to be a public document. While we realize your intent, the reality is that those records are exactly what id thieves have a field day with.
As for announcements.. as Ted mentions, any old newspapers are searchable at a library. Would your birth be there? That is a bit iffy.. if mom was a teenager, and planned on releasing you for adoption.
Your best lead is your adoptive parents, if they happen to have details or clues. I have an adopted son, and it was a private adoption.. so I do have the name, and in fact, still have access to bio relatives. My son hasn't chosen to pursue it.
IF your parents are willing (some see it as rejection), they may offer the key clue that will lead in the right direction.
Another option is www.cyndislist.com which has all kinds of research sources, including a section for adoptees. I believe Texas (for one) has opened an official registry for such issues, where if the child and parents are looking, they can post a message. There are many such registries out there.
I wish you much luck. You, by the way, are my 10,000 answer, so maybe that will be an omen for you. I was waiting for a good question to wind up with.
An Animated Birth Announcement I know I told everyone that there was no way I'd ever be animating a birth announcement, but I guess the old ...
So I'm trying to find the birth announcements of my little cousins that are older now but i cant seem to find them on my locasl newspaper. does it really only go back like 2 years? because that is as far back as I have been able to look it seems
Oh, sorry I meant the online newspaper. I could only find the births as far back as 2007 I'm still trying to find them before that. I'm not sure if I'm looking wrong or if it only goes back 2 yrs.
Your best bet would be http://www.NewspaperArchive.com. They have newspapers from like 1752 to the present.
Also, http://www.ancestry.com has this database: " Newspapers and periodicals" are the diaries of local communities. They are excellent sources of family history details - often recorded nowhere else. Look for obituaries, marriages, legal notices, and more found in our Historical Newspaper Archives." They also have "Historical Newspapers, Birth, Marriage, & Death Announcements, 1850-2003", and newspapers from the Abilene Morning News (Abilene, Texas) to the Zanesville Times Signal (Zanesville, Ohio)--where you put in their first and last name, the date you are looking for, and put in the keywords something like "Birth announcement". Ancestry has a free 2 week membership trial (you have to enter credit card info, so BE SURE to CANCEL it on the 13th day, or you will be charged the membership fee), and I think the same is true for Newspaper Archive.
Or you could add their names and dates and someone here with an ancestry.com membership--like me--could look it up for you. =)
I would like to find an old birth announcement. I am putting together something special for my best friend. I would just like to get one out of a newspaper. I was not in the same state when this would have been printed. If anyone could help me out, I would be greatfull!!
Check the newspaper it was printed in. They usually have archives. You may have to join the site or pay a fee to access it. Or you could try calling her family to see if they have a copy of it and explain what you need it for.

Review | 19-year-old Pennsylvanian takes grand prize at Chopin competition
The competition was grueling, certainly for the audience, which heard five performances of Chopin's Piano Concerto in E Minor over the course of two days.
On Sunday, the jury of the Eighth National Chopin Piano Competition awarded first prize to Claire Huangci, 19, of Lansdale, Pa., a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and a student at the Hannover Hochschule Für Musik in Germany. The prize carries with it $20,000, a concert tour of more than 20 cities in the United States and abroad and automatic admission to the highly prestigious International Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Warsaw in October.
``She had tremendous rounds through the whole competition,'' said Agustin Anievas, the New York concert pianist who served as chair of the competition jury. ``Everything she did was so polished, so beautifully done. It was a unanimous decision.''
